I know my friend is a very good person and so I am wishing him to get whatever would make him in life. I am just at his back to support whatever plans he has but it's still him that need to find out what he wants and how he would reach it. I would give him advices on how to reach his plans in life. But I can only do much. A lot of things would depend on him. I could not help him all the time or in everything as much as I want to as he has been a lot of help for me before.

You are a good friend and reassuring him that you will always be by his side surely makes your friend appreciate your friendship.

That's what friends are for my friend. 
Even if they choose another path, we should just wish them well. Even if we can't help in financial aspect, we can at least be their shoulder to cry on, when things go wrong.
And we should also include them in our prayers.
