Have you ever had trouble with contractors?

Have you ever had trouble with contractors? We went to a bunch for a new HVAC unit in the house and got a great price and agreed that this company would do the replacement. The one we have is dying and we want to get it done before winter so we will have heat. It took forever before the new unit was delivered to him. Then he made a date to come to the house to install it and never showed up. Then said that something was wrong with the unit after we called and it had to be sent back and we then had to wait again for the replacement to come in. Well, they were supposed to come today around 4pm. Not a good time since it is the end of the day but he also works another job during the day so we do understand. We were just discussing whether he called or not when the phone rang. It was the contractor. He couldn't make it because his helpers were no where to be found and he couldn't contact them on the phone. He said he will be coming over tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. The first time he was supposed to come was the same time. I got up at the crack of dawn and he never showed. I hope that doesn't happen again tomorrow. It is one thing getting up early if they show, at least it is worth it. But a no show and not being able to sleep in when I can is frustrating as well as playing this tag game back and forth for service. We have to make amends for them with our schedule but they should be considerate enough to call in advance if something goes wrong or they can't show up.

I feel for you as its been hot in many parts of the country. We have had a lot of heat here and many of my neighbors are using their air conditioners and they haven't turned it on in many years. I'm hoping the job is finished today. Good luck

We are finally alone again. The mess was all cleaned up nicely with all the tools, parts and papers that were all over the floors. The new unit is now in and is cooling nicely. We do need a new thermostat but the one we have will be okay until he comes back next week to put that in. But we have air and it is cool and a very quiet unit too. The other one really was loud but it was over 20 years old too.

Bless your heart! I can't say that has ever happened to us that I can remember. I hope they showed up and did the installation.

They arrived at 7:00 am and are still here...not even half way done from what we can tell. Just hoping the job can be done completely today. It will be horrid without any air conditioning in this heat down in the South!

Personally to me, this is not very professional and a Good way to do Business. I hope you had not paid them a lot of money. This is Bad business practices and if it were me, I would have been threatening to go somewhere else since they are not able to get it done when promised.
