I don't know about hotmail (never use it) but for me yahoo is better than Gmail because Gmail much easier to get hacked (happen to me twice on Gmail).

I have an e-mail address on all three of those websites, but I don't use my Yahoo and Hotmail accounts anymore. The interface of the e-mail section of their websites don't appeal to me. Gmail is alright, so I have some active Gmail accounts. Other than that, I use an e-mail from my ISP and my own domains.

I have a couple of websites, and the webhosting comes with webmail, so I can create an account for myself using my domain name. (yourname@yourdomain.com)

I do have a gmail and yahoo mail. Often I find my yahoo mails always delayed. It is maybe because of too many users. But now, I do longer use both since I am using a professional email courtesy of my website host. This comes along free with the website that I paid for.

I have email accounts with all of them. I have even received emails through Yahoo mail and Hotmail as I submitted email address belonging to them to some places when I initially started using the Internet but I have never sent any mail through them. Later on, I totally concentrated to Gmail as I find it more comfortable and use it everywhere. The Yahoo mail and Hotmail accounts are now rarely logged in by me, but the accounts are still now existing and remain valid.
