Feel like I'm getting a cold..... what can help fight it off?

I feel like I'm getting a cold.. sore throat and eyes hurt somewhat. Now I know there is no cure for the common cold, but do any of you know of anything to do or take to fight off the cold and prevent it from getting worse? I took some vitamin C and drinking lots of fluids so am hoping I can fight it off.

i also used to get cold frequently.........so my mom started giving me ginger soup daily in the morning..........now my cold has almost disappeared..............it is really hard to drink that bitter soup but it works

In my country - ginger is very tasty if you could make it as a herbal drink. The herbal drink is called wedang jahe . Boil the ginger with brown sugar and pandanus leaves , and I always drink it with mochi and fried nuts (I put them into the drink) And it is so delicious and is so healthy ..

Further to what has been said garlic is known to be a deterant so when you cook add some garlic to your meals. And someone already said to rest and keep the fluids up. If you're having water you can add a bit of lemon juice to is as well for the sore throat

I did the lemon juice and water ...that helped me drink more water. I had a good nights sleep and I feel fine now. Thanks!

Oh good I'm so glad it worked. To avoid colds in future though get enough garlic! I know I just love garlic but I've avoided cold and flu all winter even with 2 sick people in the house. That and the vitamin C and enough rest and fluids helped me avoid it

Obviously there are some tablets available against common cold. But I would suggest you should avoid it. You can have hot tea with some pepper in it. That would help a lot. you can also go for a steam which would give you a big relief. I hope you would be fine soon.

Just drink more water and that's really help. Try to drink more water and wear warm clothes also helps. For if the situation gets even worse, i think it is wise of you to get some medicine.Just take good care of yourself and good luck to you.

Yes I agree the fluids especially water help. I did that and rested a lot and I feel fine now.

There are ways to prevent a cold and ways to possibly stop it. www.earthclinic.com/CURES/colds.html check out the hydrogen peroxide cure. It has worked for me in less than a minuter for a head cold and has worked for many people, some of my friends. Make sure you read all the related discussions.

Yes vitamin c will help and don't forget to take a lots of rest. The only medicine for cold is resting. Rest well and eat well, you can drink ginger with honey too to make your stamina stronger to fight that cold.

Though there is no cure, there are ways to mask the symptoms of colds like anti-histamines or decongestants and vitamin C does help. Teas generally help too, be it with honey or lemon because the heat helps dilate the airways making it easier to breath. The best cure for a cold or flu is rest, but that is not always possible, so if your not sure what to take, a pharmacy will help and they may suggest a doctor depending on what type of cold you may have.

What you are doing is fine and it is just common cold and you will fight it well. I normally take steam bath when I have cold. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

You are doing the right thing - beside you need to have some enough rest. Flu or cold could attack somebody whose the lack of immune system - it means you need more rest to recover your energy . Don't forget to eat regularly to keep your nutrient balance . I hope you be better soon !
