Yes, the weed you have been trying to eradicate from your yard is actually good for you! They are high in vitamins, minerals and can be used for liver and gallbladder problems. Ref: The University of Maryland Medical Center http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/dandelion-000236.htm

Yes, I have heard of that. I remember when I was really, really little I saw a few people in this field picking stuff. I asked my father what they were doing because I was curious (I was probably 10) and he told me picking dandelion greens because they were good to eat. I remember this because we were on our way to visit my grandmother who was in the hospital. I never forgot that but just never picked them to eat. Wow, you really brought up an old, old memory, thank you.

You're welcome! I just recently learned this. I found it very interesting that they have so many vitamins and minerals.

I buy bundles of dandelion leaves for my rabbit, and guinea pig at the grocery store all the time. In the summer I do pull them outside, but it's rare they are around here though. I find a lot of my neighbours spray their lawn, and it floats in the air. I want to move mroe in the country to avoid all the chemicals and pestisides.

I've actually had dandelion greens in a salad. Quite good. Just wash them, especially if you use a pesticide on your lawn.
