This year, I have many chance to meet pregnant women outside, no matter in the street, alley, buses or the subway I always see them. The traditional about Chinese people that this year for double srping and leap month, so if babies born this year will be more lucky, so that a lot of expectant mothers and bewborns that we called "Dragon baby" (fin China, this year on the Lunar New Year of the Dragon). I am a little worry about these dragon babies, because few years later they will be more intense than the children of other ages to compete enrollment into school, the hobby classes, etc. So are they lucky for born in this year?

Hi cmy,I have heard much about this dragon year, but don't know what is it all about.I don't know whether the babies born this year are fortunate.Instead,I believe, being fortunate or unfortunate depends on ourselves. Our destiny depends on our karmas and not the other way round. We can change our destiny if we change our karmas. We can be prosperous if we are hard workers, committed to achieve our goal and foresighted.I don't know if a particular year has to do anything with it.I don't know what a dragon year is.Please tell me about it.

Actually I can't tell you very in detail, first, Chinese Lunar New Year is respectively in 12 animals to represent, they not all are true species, this year's represented is Dragon, so called Dragon year. In the beginning of each year, familar with this field's diviners (we call Feng Shui experts) will base on the past experience calculated that the various aspects of luck, including birth in each lunar year person's lunk how similar the 12 signs of the zodiac horoscope. I can only explain like this, after all, I am not a professional person for this field. And I agree with you that I believe work hard can change the fate.

Well if the tradition is such than can't say. Maybe they are really lucky kids. Yes there will be a problem maybe in the schools when time comes for admission and all but I guess that will be fine when time comes. Lets hope for the best. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

It's been this way in the United States as well. I am from California, and a lot of my friends and people I know are expecting children this year. I was so shocked as to how many of my friends are pregnant and having children. Some are due this month, and some are due next month or in November. It's been the year of the baby.

But the population density of the United States should be smaller than China, so the resources put on the children's such as education will be more than China, then, even more people plan pregnant or small life would be more better.

Last year everywhere I look I see a pregnant woman . I just wish all those babies all the best . I see people having baby left right and centre and it worried me because we already have such bad economy here .

Well i am new to this tradition and thinking of the Dragon Baby. But to be very honest, i find no logic in this kind of people's way of thinking that the babies born this year would be luckier than the other babies as all of us are special and lucky enough and we should feel blessed that God has sent us on earth and whats the point in discussing who are the lucky ones and who are not. We should rather pray God that all the babies born this year and the years to come are healthy, lucky and strong in every sense. What say?

I think except of traditional thinking, which also hopes parents hope, all parents hope that their children's life will go smoothly, but who also can not predict the future, so they rely on good luck year, hope that they will live better.

I think the baby borned in the Olympic year(2008) will surpass the Dragon year(2012). It's no doubt there will be great competition for these children, but don't worry, the market will respond to this, for example, the cost for the public school will jump sharply in certain years and drop quickly in the later years, that will be an interesting phenomena at that time. But anyway, the government will coordinate the contradiction and acollate the recourse reasonable.

May be it is lucky for those babies that born in this 'dragon' year of the Chinese calender, their parent will pay extra child care expenses and put in more personal effort to make sure their little dragon can grow into a big one soon, they may have possess certain charm and qualities or even special talent where babies born in other year don't possess according to the Chinese belief. Well, may be they should face with more intense competition for the enrollment into school and hobby classes etc... since they are more lucky compare to other babies in term of getting more parental love by being born in this year. It is all a fair game, nothing is there for you to worry unnecessary. They the littl 'dragon' that can with stand all sort of challenges ahead of them.

I can see that you learned a lot about the Chinese traditions. As a matter of fact, I didn't know that babies born in leap year will be more lucky. You have a point saying that "Dragon baby" may be faced with more competition. But it is not always the case. I have direct bearing on the social welfare. Anyway, time will tell.
