Whenever I drove on the street, I remember that I saw numerous pawn shop on the street side, and I just wonder how many people actually hock their valuable items for the short term loan they desperately needed. They might only pay you less than 1/3 of that precious items you brought to them, and the when you want to retrieve it, you have to pay a high price on the interest rate. Right now, with the ubiquitous of internet service, and convenient service of delivery, online pawn shop is available. To my surprise, these pawn shops can be operate in remote area, and can connect to people from far away too. Check them out on pawntique.com, and pawngo.com. Oh, I forget to mention, sometimes, you can get some great deal from those pawnshop too, like computers, or video cam, or video game console etc.......

I saw the online pawnshop. interesting. we have to tell the item we want to pawn. they will give quotation, we have to send the thing thro fedex. then they will pay us. I will not recommend this. We cannot believe the pawnman standing before us and why should we believe these unknown people for such an important purpose. They are growing here because banks do not give jewel loan as we give in Indian banks.

I think you're right that it might be risky since it's online. That's interesting since Indian banks give jewel loans. I personally have sold anything yet to a pawn shop but I have sold and traded various stuffs online. Nevertheless, I personally meet the person or sometimes just send the via courier service.

Selling online is ok. you are selling with an idea of not getting back and you make money out of it. but giving for panwshop the company will give only 30% of the price of the product. In the end we may lose the product to the company and company will sell them to others and make profit.

We have lots of pawnshops like this, even in remote areas. You are right about the value. I have never tried to borrow any money from them. If the pawnshop is online, how would we send the items to them?

Yanzalong: Where are you living? China? I saw an online pawnshop site. They say like this. Tell us the goods you want to pawn/sell? we will send the quotation? you send the goods thro fedex couriers. then we will give your money. --that is what they say. most of them sell the panwned goods online. I saw some rolex watches being sold at $7000+. Even people wearing such a costly watch go for pawnshop. I know one thing-- out 100 goods that go inside pawnshop only 20% will be returned back. people who take money cannot return the money borrowed.
