I suggest that if it's your free time, make yourself unavailable. For example, If you are at work and you get your 30 min lunch break, don't stay at your desk, leave the office and go have lunch in your car until your break is up. But if he is paying you for overtime, go ahead and make that money.

There is no reason that you should be working in your free time if you don't want to, providing that it isn't in your contract that you have to. If he is asking you to do this for free then this is something that is even worse and you shouldn't even be thinking about doing it. You might find that your job is taking over your entire life if you take on all of the overtime that you can, and this means that you really do have to consider saying no when you feel as though working is not what is the best thing for you to do at that time.

Don't let him know that you have free time. Tell him that you have made plans & cannot render any overtime. Also if you say "no", mean it. Don't feel guilty after saying "no"to your boss.

I think it it okay to give him a favor if you are really not busy but making it as a habit would be a different story. Does he offer an overtime pay? If he does, then, well and good. But if you work for free, I don't think you need to exert effort in doing those jobs.

My dear friend, if you were asked to work at your free time, you need to demand for extra pay. Don't do things if it is not indicated in your contract.
