They don’t brush teeth?

My granddaughter Subhi told me while I was explaining her how to perform puja in our puja room, last Sunday. Other days it is not possible, as she lives home at 6am for her school and comes around 1pm. This is how I was explaining; first bath the god/goddesses idols by little sprinkling water on them with a flower; next apply sandal wood paste, vermillion, next the seasonal flowers; next light incense sticks ; next a wick lamp dipped in pure ghee. After that offer some sweets to them. Next sit and pray them to make you intelligent etc. After that give these sweets to all members of family as ‘prashad’. Well she suddenly asked, ‘Dadimaa’; they don’t brush the teeth? Honestly speaking I had no answer to this. The present day kids are much wise compared to what we were. Have you faced any such situation? Please share your valued opinion on this story. PLEASE KEEP RESPONSES CLEAN. Kalyani September 26, 2012.

Hi Kalyni! Yes I agree kids nowadays are very inquisitive.I don't have my own kids yet but I have nieces from my older brother. I remember few weeks ago, I was in front of my PC then my niece asked me, " Why big tummy mo...baby inside?"(Why is your tummy big, are you pregnant?).I let out a big laugh. I gained a lot of weight when I came back from Korea that's why I have love handles but I am not in the family way. I think you are talking about your religious practices. It is quite interesting, what is puja room? If I may ask :)

Oh very interesting. So you cannot go to the Puja room if you haven't taken a bath? I am a practicing catholic. We also keep sacred images to remind and to strengthen our faith but we do not worship them.

Hello young sister! I am not surprised. Soon it will be Professor Subhi! I don't have a separate room for my altar - I guess that would be impossible as I only have one room - but I keep my altar high on top of my clothes closet. I do not sprinkle water on the Buddhas but perhaps I should. About two or three times per month I change the flowers and light the incense and after a few months there is so much dust from the sticks.

Hahaha! Smart kid you have there! The little things that grown ups sometimes miss, these kids will readily notice.
