The Ways of the World

The ways of the world are quite apparent. There really is not anything you can do to escape the realities of life. One can turn on the television or watch a movie, but after it is over, he or she is back to life's reality. No one needs to watch a reality show to see reality. Oh! Maybe that is what it is not. Well, I guess there is reality in how people can be to actually think of themselves as interesting. I am one to view social networking as a major cause of image endangerment. Literally, some things people should keep to themselves. Remember, cyberspace is forever and a career based on image may not be. I hope that people realize that who they are is part of the world they make up. I am so happy to know that no matter where I go, I know what to expect because I know the ways of the real world.

The problem I've noticed with a lot of people, at least in American society, is that "who they are" depends on other's perceptions. Whether I'm trying to get a job or date a girl I like, I'm always taught to basically modify my appearence and mannerisms to fit a seemingly arbitrarily established paradigm in order to "make a good first impression." What that says to me is that society will misread and negatively judge any deviation from the norm no matter how meaningless it may seem. I choose how I look and how I act based on my own preferences and not what is favorable to society. Sure that doesn't make me an overly popular person, nor work for me in a job interview, but I'm quite happy with who I am. I don't know what your thoughts are on spirituality are, but I feel that God created me to be exactly who I am, and he doesn't make mistakes. I also believe that if you believe in who you are with all your heart and soul, that people will have no choice but to respect you for it.

Well, I like people I can be myself with, and people who are themselves with me. I like being my God given self.
