robbed and now lost

So yesterday I was in a part of town which is considered by most to be a no go zone for people of my ethnicity. I actually spend quite a lot of time there due to the work that I do with the children that come from that area. Anyway I was walking along the street making a phone call to some people who I was waiting to meet with. I finish the phone call and put my phone in my pocket. I start jogging up the street to where I am meant to be meeting and I notice a man jogging behind me. Next I thought it was odd but nothing too strange until I notice a second man jogging along as well. Then I think I hear one of them say my name so obviously I stop thinking, oh I must know these guys! wrong. Anyway, one of them grabs my arm and say "give me your phone" He didn't seem too menacing and I hesitated for a second trying to work out what to do. He repeats the request and starts to get a little bit agressive, so I pull out my phone - iPhone 4s - and give it to him. The other guy then says "and you wallet and money". I really didn't want to give my wallet because of all the hassel of getting new cards - especially since I am in a different country and all the institutions that I have to go through are in Australia. Anyway, thankfully the van with my friends show up and start honking their horn, I am not sure if they knew what was going on or not, but it was enough to scare the guys off and they ran away - one of them gave me a parting smack to the face - nice!! Anyway. I was and still am a little shocked, although grateful that I was not injured as these sorts of incidents can often result in a much worse ending in this area. Now however I am left with the loss of my phone and all the information that was on it. It is only when you are without your phone that you realise how much our modern day life revolves around it. This is especially true if you have a modern smart phone which acts as your calendar, to do list, phone book, alarm clock, email portal, etc etc. Oh and your phone. I can hardly function or do anything without it. How did we actually achieve anything before mobile phones. How did we get in touch with people and confirm things with people, and stay in touch on the move. Or did we just get about doing our own thing more before mobile phones and not rely on interaction with other people? Anyway. It is now a long road back to regathering all my information, and getting a new phone.

Oh oh. so bad. yeah i know how you must be without your iphone. I do not have one but I can understand the use of it in all ways. I am on the other hand happy for you that your friends had arrived on time. I am sure you will get a phone for yourself and you are in proper shape, this is more important. There are some streets in my city which are dangerous in the night. So we avoid using that street. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.
