My oldest daughter is going to turn 18 in 10 days and I don't have a clue on what to get for her! What do you get someone that has everything they want, and what they don't have already are saving up to buy? Finances are tough on my end, as they are for so many today! We live on 1 income and have 4 children 17, 14, 9, & 7 months, so the extra money for BIG gifts just isn't there. I'm looking for something I can either purchase or make that she will be able to hold onto forever. I want her to have something she can take to college with her that will remind her of how special she is to me and everything she has enriched my life with. I'm not the craftiest person, but I can do anything I set my mind too. Any and all honest suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Wow 17, 14, 9 , 7 months? My heart goes out to you! Well I really am at a loss of what you can get her but have you looked at some thrift stores? Or even Garage sales/ Sometimes you can find some really neat things for her age and really all ages. I don't know what she likes ? Does she like music? Maybe you could get her a c.d. of her favorite band or singer? They are not that much if you can find a discount c.d. place? Or even a new shirt? A dress? Or her favorite movie or a movie with her favorite actress or actor in the movie? Something she can set on her dresser in her room? If you just had like 20 one dollar bills and could find a pot and a tree at a hobby shop you could make her a money tree? Just tie the dollars on the limbs on the tree with green ribbon and maybe a pair of ear rings hangg from the tree too? Well hope this helped and good luck.

Oh my gosh, I swear you know her!! She actually loves everything you've mentioned!! The problem with getting her a cd is she doesn't use them, she uses her iPod and has a membership to iTunes...so that's out of the question. She is an assistant manager at a clothing store and only wears clothes from there and can get them much cheaper than I can. Buying her a gift card seems so impersonal for such a special birthday so I won't do that. BUT the money tree idea is awesome!!...I will do that along with some other things (not sure what yet) to make it super special for her...I feel it's important to celebrate every birthday like it's the only one they will ever have. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this lovely idea!!

This is definitely something I will be looking into and can incorporate it with the money tree idea! My daughter and I are VERY close...often times I feel she's the only person, besides my husband, that I can lean on and completely trust. She has been my reason to wake up each morning for the past 18 years and is the sole reason I was able to move forward after losing my baby that was born 11 months before her. We have a very special bond that started way back when she was conceived and I want to give her something on her special day that will represent our relationship, milestones, challenges, and love she has brought to my life! Thank you for taking the time to suggest this!! And I will most certainly pass on the birthday wish from you! Thank you again, I appreciate it more than you know!
