Add On Service Activations

Cell phone is an essential thing now a days and we all have our own cell and using various service providers. The providers have different names, but they are same in one concept, i.e all the providers are very much interested in cutting the customers balance with various unwanted offer activation. Day by day they are introducing various kind of add on service packs and make an alert call to us. Most of us don't like this kind of promotional calls and don't hear them fully, some times we pressed some keys in the key pad due to the tension and the service is activated in our phone and certain amount is deducted from our account balance. Every day they reduce some amount for this activation with or without our knowledge and this kind of deductions are really annoying. If we make a call to customer care to solve this problem and we are in need to pay some money for CC call too. While calling the CC operator they make us to wait in the line for some time and we lose our money for this waiting period too. The CC operator will convince us with some words and deactivate the option. This kind of unwanted things from cell service provider is really irritating. I lost a lot of money due to this kind of unwanted activations. What is your opinion about this kind of add on activiations in mobile phones? Do you ever lost your balance in this way? Do you think this kind of add on services are necessary to you?

if you can't see it you live in a very sheltered world. Many people even in Canada don't have cell phones.

our provider use the same technique. it sends some promotional messages, and you'd notice that your balance has been deducted when those messages should be free. then they'd say that you have to text a certain code to a certain number to deactivate the the additional service. but then, nothing really happens. they just keep sending these messages. though different in content, but the same irritating scheme. well, that's marketing.

defiantly not. I really think they are waste of time and money. Cell phone must be used to maintain our family communication and some other useful things. I really hate when company people calls me regarding this services. do you know why..They will call in the afternoon when i am sleeping...Hahaha...

My thinking regarding to service providers is like this: They plays dual role in our life. Sometime they seem good because they offer better network along with affordable package or service and sometime they seem bad because of any one mistake like reducing balance, unfortunately service is not available at a time when you need etc... As far as the promotional calls are concerned, then the service providers also offer a service of stopping or not receiving such promotional calls or messages. Once you activate it, within a few hours you will be stopped to receive any promotional calls or messages. But in the case of balance reducing, my experience has been remained badly. I have also been victimized and this thing seems annoying to me. And one more annoying thing is they sometime do activate any service without our knowledge or permission.
