There are few instances that i can't help myself getting envy of someone. I don't know how to avoid a feeling that way. It makes me feel less human and unreasonable sometimes. Is their something wrong with me? Can this be a normal feeling toward someone? Or it is just man's nature to feel envy from time to time?

Hello bemzee! Sad to say, it is a nature of man to be envy. :( I am not so sure but I guess it is included in the bible as one of the deadly sins along with hate, pride and others that I can't recall now. So you are human and not unreasonable. Each one of us has or have sinned. What important is we change and repent for those.

Your thought about the issue made me a little lighter. It was quite a burden thinking of being mean to someone when in fact they don't know what i felt towards them. I am trying to be more objective in seeing things. I also don't want to harbor bad feelings towards others for a long time.

I also get that feeling when things do not work out for me. Like for instance right now I wish I was not me at the moment. Things is not working according to what I had planned. So rest assure Dear that this kind of feeling is purely human and we all go through it once in a while.

Human beings are definitely forced to envy at people who are better than themselves. It could be even due to luck, that someone is getting fame and dignity. We may then envy of his/her luck. Even if the person had any talents, we would not admit it. Feeling jealous is one of the negative characters that every human being has! It is okay to envy, but do not overdo anything! Try and overcome this situation soon.

Being envious is a natural reaction sometimes, and probably i guess of having your own desire or dreams having something that you can't have or haven't had or would want to have, lol! It only makes you human, and don't just let it take over your rationality, just take time to realize and surely you would get over it.

Define it, reassess it, and get over it. The negativity would surely affect you in a lot of ways, and the resolution to this issue would be to be positive and sustain a positive outlook in life. The more you get it over quickly, the more you can move on and go through with your life.

Getting over it, yes that is exactly the best solution i can ever get. Than losing faith in myself. And not believing to achieve something.

Yes, feeling Envy is normal and human nature. There's nothing wrong with that. You are not normal if you don't feel such. But don't let envy control you no matter what. Some people are controlled by envy that is why many of our friends out there commit crime due to it. Stealing other peoples things is the fruit of envy and that's a SIN. Envy is one of the 7 deadly sins. It only becomes deadly if you let yourself being consumed by this. Have self control my friend. Always listen to small voices that are trying to help you get out of envy. :) GodBless...

Yes, seven deadly sin. But remember, its normal to be envious bearing in mind that you must have control. It will only become a sin once you let yourself be consumed by envy which results to other sinful acts. And you are not bad at all. :) God bless.....

Oh my God. Seven deadly sin? It makes me feel awful. LOL. But it's good to hear that it is human nature to envy. That controlling it is an option, i guess i am not that bad at all.

I think everyone feels envious of someone sometimes. I mean, for example, I keep telling myself to not be envious of someone who is cleverer than me, but when that person's cleverness shines through, I'd still feel a bit envious. It's normal I think, not necessarily a bad feeling if you use it as motivation to work harder to be improve yourself. It can only be bad if you use the envy to think up plans of sabotage or vengeance towards the person you are envious of. Even right now as I type this, I am envious of my friend's perfect thick, straight hair, and wish I have hair just like hers, lol!

I can imagine it. LOL. In my case i also take it as a challenge that i can do better and prove to myself that i can do it. It is inevitable especially if you are competitive and trying to maintain a good status in school. It can be a bad feeling sometimes but then it challenge me.

Yes, I agree. So I guess the best thing to do with envy since we can't get rid of it completely is to use it as a positive tool, i.e motivation and self-empowerment:)

I think that everyone, whether male or female, can feel envious of others at times. It seems to be that there is something within us that makes us always want the best that we're capable of, and if we see that other people are doing better than us then this is where we get a bit jealous. Unfortunately, a lot of people achieve things that they don't necessarily deserve, and this can make things even worse for us because it just seems as though we are the ones doing all of the hard work and not getting any of the rewards from doing so.

Hi, Envy is one of the devil's favorite sin next to pride. If you are humble enough and you can't be swayed to commit sin, then the allure of other people's things may get you to commit a crime in no time at all.

Being envious to materials is another thing than being envious to a situation that you wish to be yours is different. It is indeed a devil's way to make you do unnecessary things to badly hurt someone emotionally or physically. So it is best always to hold your emotions and give time to think positively to avoid evil thoughts.

Man was created by God and given the options to do either right or bad. Yet, man in nature is better of than animals. He has a conscience to know what is bad from good. It is just the devil in him/her that sparks envy.

Sometimes it was unexpected but it just happened. I am not happy being left out and not achieving what they achieved. It is not material but of many circumstances like events and recognitions. I can't help thinking why they do it, when i can't.

i was an envious type of person too. but it was being lessened as of now. before, i can tell that i am not yet growing for having that kind of feeling towards others triumph or each thing that i envied with. i did not like the feeling of being envious. so i really tried to cope with this. it is very hard when your enemy is yourself. but i need to loosen it. i prayed to God to help me with this matter. i suppressed whenever i felt this wrong thing everytime seeing happy person, any achievements, beautiful things and etc. and now, i care less. why a person gets envious? it is because one may lacks good self-esteem and confidence within oneself. that is why could feel insecurities. remedies of this? believe in yourself that you can do better things and whatever would be the achievements of others, you can achieve it too. just be patient and do not hurry things up. have a positive attitude that when you cannot have the same thing others possessed, believed that you can have other thing that is right for you. be contented and be happy of what you have. sometimes simpleness is happiness. do not ask for more when you it is impossible for you to have at the moment. if you are to willing to have that, work for it. and never forget to pray. hope somehow you got some ideas to conquer enviousness. God bless

Envy is a negative feeling, and all of us are susceptible to it. But the question is how a person acts upon his enviousness. If a person who is envying someone's new car for example, and wants to have the same, made it his inspiration to work harder and save more to be able to afford one is a good way of handling envy. But when a person instead starts spreading lies and gossips on how someone was able to have a car, then that's onviously a worse case of envy.

I guess sometimes it is normal to feel envious towards other people especially when they have some things you don't. But if you are contented with your life, this small instances will go by unnoticed. :) It happens to me sometimes too, but I understand that situations are different and we can't always get what we want. ^_^
