My friend's mother is dying in Kidney Failure because of diabetes complications and uncontrolled blood pressure before and now her mother is waiting the right time to die. Her mother decline to undergo a dialysis treatment cause she knows that her kidney will never be cured and has no assurance that she is going to get rid on dialysis treatment id she let her self to undergo with so her mother accepted that she is going to die sooner or later. She told me that her mothers's nephrologist asked if her mother is taking any food supplement and she said that yes her mother choose to take food supplements made from herbal products than taking the doctor's order. Her nephrologist told her mother that your condition was worsen because you take this food supplement. Your createnine has double up and everything in your blood has risen so indeed you need an emergency dialysis but still her mother refuse to so. My point here is that why most nephrologist decline in food supplement to their patients who are suffering from kidney failure and renal disease? How come they know this without educating the people about the effects of food supplements to individuals who has a kidney disease except for kidney stone? Do you think that taking herbal medicine as food supplement can really destroy your kidneys even if you don't have a kidney disease right now? I dont think so. I see that nephrologist should also inspect their patients diet if they are following and not blame the food supplement alone that is ridiculous the fact that they dont have the studies that supports the effects of taking food supplement in kidney failure or in our kidneys. What do you think guys? Share your views.

Hi! Actually when a person has kidney damage it would be hard for him or her to excrete toxic wastes from the body. Food supplements, although it is herbal are still considered as medication. Well when we take medications our liver metabolizes it and our kidneys excrete the waste. But since kidney is damaged then those wastes stays in the body. It's like every time you take supplement instead its levels in your blood increases and accumulates more. It's just like a case of overdose.

I agree so how about those food supplements that claims they dont have overdosage nor no side effects what is your perception about them?

What others have said is true but food supplements that make the claim you stated in your comment to #2 response may not be harmful. My experience with medical professionals is that they refuse, for the most part, to look at natural means of dealing with disease and rely solely on medications. For example, in the case of arthritis, cartilage can be rebuilt. Doctors won't tell you this. They prefer to give you medications to deal with the pain and inflammation, waiting until you have no cartilage left. Then they tell you that you need replacement surgery - knee, hip, whichever. This is unnecessary. There is no money for doctors in natural treatment. Money is what drives the majority of them, not care for their patients. Can you not find a homeopathic physician? I would look for one. This site may be helpful to you www.earthclinic.com/CURES/kidney_disease.html

I absolutely agree with you. Most of them are for money sake and only a few of them are really caring for their patients. Homeopathic doctors are really scarce in my area most of them live on and work in larger cities. Thanks for the link that is one incredible site to read about how to treat kidney diseases.

It's an excellent site for all sorts of ailments. I'm glad you like it. I hope maybe you can find something there to help your mother. I think most people think I'm some kind of a nut. I wish your mother much luck in her choice of treatment.

Med School - Doctors study in schools for years
Better trust the neprologist. The kidney of the patient is shutting down and it would not help if we add another kind of medication which we don't know if would add another toxin or add another load to the already decompensating organ.

There are certain foods that produce byproducts that the kidneys need to drain out from the blood and when the kidneys fail to do this the blood gets poisoned complicating the situation further. It is not right to say that doctors have not done their homework. Dieting is the main thing when kidneys fail to function as whatever food is taken the blood get is all including poisons.

So do you think that food supplement is one of them even if there is no direct studies that proves about the food supplement is really deadly for patients with kidney failure?

You should look at the properties of that food supplement and see if there are substances that need to be avoided and that is what the doctor has done. Once kidneys fail to function dialysis or kidney transplant is the only solution. A few hours before the dialysis the patient is allowed to eat whatever as it takes about three hours for the food to assimilate and dialysis drains out whatever poisons the blood would contain.
