What do you feed your dog? Home made or canned?

Good morning! We have a huge Rotti X Rhod Ridgeback that we have had since he was a pup. I used to make his food up for him however lately I have been giving him canned food because I have been strapped for time. The only problem is, it costs too much to feed him canned food everyday. So I'm thinking of going back to making his food again. I was just wondering if other dog owners made their dogs' food and, if so, what do you put in it?

i prefer to feed my dog with home made food because it is better than the canned and it is also fresh and my dog is quite healthy and fit

Thank you for your reply =) That's what I'm thinking too. I have noticed a difference with him, not only with his coat/condition but also with his attitude - he doesn't seem to be as 'happy' as before.

The poodles we used to have were fed with some sausages and bones which they liked. Later we sent them to our friends as it was expensive to keep them although they were very cute small white dogs.

I feed my dog dry dog food because the canned food is too expensive. I also sometimes make his food. I sometimes soften his food for him with some meat broths as he is old and his teeth are not as good as they used to be. Other times he does well eating his food as is.

I usually give him home made food made by me. He is fond of my food instead of those commercial canned food, may be my dog is very selective in his food choices, he just refuse to taste the canned doggy food, all end up throwing away in the dumpster. I don't have much choice, except use the home made food to feed him.

The dog we used to have before ate only home made food. It wasn't human food but food made especially for her. We cooked rice and meat for her everyday, for 13 years. The dog we have now is less picky. She eats almost everything that is edible. We feed her dog dry food. We chose a super premium brand that fits her needs and we are very happy with it. And she's happy with it, of course!
