How good is your BOSS in dealing with his people?

I just resigned from my work 2 months ago,it was an unplanned and immediate resignation. The reason? The way how my Boss treated his people. I must say that, my Boss is also good in such a way that, when his people get sick, he see to it that they get proper medical treatment and he provided them with whatever they might need for their fast recovery. But what bothered me was, the way he treated his people whenever he asked them something to do and he didn't like the result. He would shout at his people in front of others even if it is in public or inside the restaurant and the guests are hearing what he is saying. Such attitude of a Boss will demotivate his people and will also affect their morale, he doesn't even care about the words that he will use or say. Sad to say, I'm one of his people who experienced that. But what made me decide to resign was, when he terminated some of his people without serving them any disciplinary actions or letting them sign any termination paper. These people were just called in the office and they were advised that they cannot report for work anymore, they were terminated because they received complaints from some of their colleagues that they have an attitude problem. As simple as that. I felt that I'm not secured with that company, and they can also do the same thing to me anytime without due process.

my boss is awful she really has no concept of how to talk to her staff or even how to treat her staff fairly. Whats good is that she regulary embrasses herself at meetings because she doesnt really know what she is talking about so other people in my organistation knows how bad she is. But she is bad for most of the reasons that you have mentioned above.

My boss now is horrible. He wants to revise our contract now and include some of his new policies. He wants to deduct $10 everytime we speak our national language at work.Is that reasonable? He's a foreigner. We speak English at work when we are dealing with our clients but when we speak to our colleagues, we prefer our language because it's easy for us to express our thoughts. He wants to deduct 1 hour of our salary if we are even 1 minute late only. 1 absent equals 3 days deduction.13th month should be half.

well, that's life. boss is the one who shout and the employees have no choice but to humble themselves. if anyone can't take it, the answer is resignation. but resignation is always not the answer, you must learn how to dance with the music.. you can't change your boss but you can change how you face those situations. I'm not saying that your boss is doing the right thing but who cares? if he shouts, do it in public, it is a great shame of him not you or any employee he is scolding. but if your boss is terminating without sound reason that is a different story. I think you made the right decision.

I can say that my boss is a typical boss. She lead through example. Though sometimes we commit mistakes, she seldom pushes us. But instead, she guide us patiently in every project which we undertake. That's why her subordinates loves her. Hope she will not change. She is a new manager. Conversely, power tripping is counterproductive and can be detrimental to the organization as a whole. Hope things will be fine. Good luck, thanks

Looks like your boss is a fking person. He is uneducated actually. Which fking authority has appointed him? Same boss is mine. He has neither any philosophy on his own profession nor any sense of decency with which he has to deal with his subordinates . So far as I can guess he was a back bencher in his student life. He always keeps waiting for a bribe. Once he asked me for bribe for I was doing a repairing project. I had the project done by the concerned office official and had a work well completing certificate. On showing certificate boss will endorse the cheque. He asked for money but I refuged to give saying all money has been spent and nothing is left. But the boss man have been able to raise bribe from other emplyees. I feel like to kick his bum.

I have a very good boss at the moment, because he is good at talking to people and sorting things out. If ever I have a problem then I know that the only thing that I have to do is to talk to him and he will find a solution. However one of the bosses that I had in the past was horrible and the only thing that he did when people made mistakes was shout at them. This was not the best way to cope with people who were unsure about the way that they should be acting, so I don't think that he was able to be a boss for very long.

Thanks a ton for sharing the discussion. Well we always presume are bosses to be assuming, hard, arrogant and stubborn and they should be otherwise people under them would act freely and would work as they wish to but he should not be that stubborn that it would like hell living under him. He should be stern as far as office commitments are concerned and should always cooperate with his employees and colleagues. What say?
