The municipality of Paranas (formerly Wright) is composed of 44 barangays, all accessible to good roads, except a few. Paranas town itself is situated along the national highway. Situated 23 kms east of Catbalogan City and about 85 kms north of Tacloban, Paranas with 29,327 people (2010 census) belongs to Region VIII, and one of 25 municipalities under Samar.
