He feels envious of his friends with caring moms

I hanged out in my friends place last Friday. And we were sitting in this small burger stand. We were taking with his other friends. Then this friend was still hanging out with us at 1 am on the morning on the burger stand just on the wide of the street. We were done eating our burgers and we were just there talking and just feeling the cool wind. And then his friend's mom came out of nowhere and told him to go home. And they were laughing because he is not young anymore. He is in twenties and her mom looks for her each night. As her mother has another family since he was young. So he feels that's it wonderful to see a parent with such concern for her child. But I don't feel the same thing though.
