Road Trip Dreaming

There are all kinds of trips people can take for either full vacations or for one day only, and everything in between. Some people fly, others go by train where train travel is available. Still others go by bus. I prefer to drive whenever I can. Currently I don't have my own vehicle so for me road trips are only in my dreams. I have ideas for trips I would like to take as soon as I can. Some involve just finding a good, off the beaten path type of place where I can just relax and spend time fishing and taking photographs. Others may involve longer periods of time where I would need to have a place of lodging overnight or for a few nights. It would just depend on how far these trips would take me. My ideal road trip would be to stay off the major highways and follow the country back roads of America. On the back roads you can drive slower and take time to look at the scenery, and find interesting little stores or shops, towns, and more that you would never find going to the normal tourist locations. What kind of road trips do you dream of, or have you actually taken?

I bought my car in 2006 and passed my driving test in 2010. It is lovely for me to now drive my own car. This summer I drove down to Cornwall. I went there with my five year old disabled son and my 3 year old daughter. We stayed at a bungalow and drove to different places each day like to beaches, gardens, towns and cities. My ideal road trip would be one over to Wales stopping off at beaches. This I think would be very exiting. I drove to over a lovely looking bridge to Bristol and I found that amazing.

That trip you made sounds wonderful. Finding one centrally located place to stay and being able to drive off in different directions each day while you are there sounds like a fun way to explore what is there to do.

If I could just get up and go, I would travel along the eastern U.S. coastline. There is so much variety in culture and scenery as the climate changes from state to state. Also, a week in the mountains is an attractive daydream. Maybe someday I'll find the time and resourses to do it.

Oh I would love a road trip following the coastline of one or both of our oceans. How beautiful that would be! I don't live anywhere near an ocean so for now that is out of the question. However, one of my road trip dreams would be to drive to Atlantic City, NJ from where I am now. Not to go to the casinos, but just to go to the ocean, and also to do some genealogical research on one of my ancestors.

The idea of road trip is one of my favorite to do. I like traveling from one place to another. The experience of knowing the culture and traditions in a certain place. The scenery that will bring a memorable adventure.

Road trip is really attracting! But I can't do that as I don't have a car, I am carsick so I never think of driving a car. But I heard people are not carsick if they drive the car, they are only carsick when they take a car, is it true? Maybe I will buy a car one day and see whether it's true or not. I also think that following the courtry back roads is a very good idea, I like countryside. May your dream come true soon!

I too enjoy road trips and have taken many of them in my life. I have been to all the New England states and through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, and Nebraska as well as Colorado. They were mainly bus trips, but totally enjoyable. I have seen many interesting things in my travels and learned a lot about my country in the process. I took a bus trip from Iowa all the way to Florida and passed through Tennessee and Kentucky. I will never forget the horse farms in Kentucky and "blue grass". I also like to travel the back roads too as you see many things you would not see on the main highways.....the scenery and wildlife. I have always wanted to go to the Grand Canyon and hopefully one day I will make it there!
