There are a lot of things to consider after a baby is delivered. Two most important activities that have to be given great importance are Rooming in and Breastfeeding of the newborn. Rooming in should be practiced for the mother and newborn 24 hours a day. Babies no longer have to be placed in nurseries nowadays. Instead, it is highly recommended that newborns should be roomed-in with the mother for the following benefits: 1. Babies sleep better and cry less. 2. Continuation of sleep/wake rhythm developed before birth. 3. Breastfeedinv is well established, continues longer and baby gains weight quickly 4. Feeding on cues is easier and mother develops good milk supply 5. Mother becomes confident in caring for the baby 6. Baby is exposed to fewer infection sources 7. Rooming in promotes mother-baby bonding. Benefits of breastfeeding: 1. The baby gets more immune rich colostrum 2. Faster development of milk supply. 3. Faster weight gain for the baby 4. Less neonatal jaundice 5. Less breast engorgement 6. Mother learns to respond to her baby 7. Less crying, less temptation to supplement 8. Promotes stronger bonding 9. Prevents diarrhea and infections 10. Strengthens the baby's immune system. For these reasons, the department of health has strongly implemented exclusive breastfeeding for newborns. It is very important because it gives several benefits for both the mother and the baby. Well, i strongly agree to such implementation. Good job!!!

In a nutshell, the mother's lactation is very essential to sustain the life of offspring. The main reason is to strengthen the immunity of lovely babies. But then, not all mothers can give milk secondary to health conditions like carcinoma and among other diseases that might transfer to their baby. The last thing they can think of to avail milk formulas or they might avail this through other facility, like the Milk Bank.
