Movies like iRobot, Terminator and the likes depict advanced Humanoid like Robot's with advanced AI capabilities. So advanced in fact, that with the growth of technology and what not in this modern age, it seems that maybe such depictions in movies may become a reality? Do you think this will be very soon, maybe in the next 10 years or so? Or much later, well after we all die etc..

I think it's quite possible, but first neuroscientists must learn how human brains work, since right now there has been a shift to copying life in AI. Therefore, I think such advanced AI will be possible only when we fully understand how brain functions. Thus I think it'll be about 15 years til that.

I think it is possible for us to create Artificial intelligence with similar capabilities as a humans brain.Though I don't think it will be for the foreseeable future. The problem in creating AI with a similar to a humans is how to give it a sense of humour, imagination and how to make it truly self aware. The question in my mind is can programmers create AI that thinks and doesn't just respond to inputs. Then it will truly be like us a in the words of Rene Descartes I think therefore I am.And this won't be possible without a massive leap forward.
