Hi lotters, I am reading a book and in one section there is a line that goes "everyday do something that scares you"..This struck me and thought of it..Maybe I should live each day and do things that scares me like learning to drive and plan a trip alone or do something adventurous..Yes, I will certainly do this:) How about you? What would you do that scares you?

Hi friend, Why we are in need to do scary things? i wonder why the author gives this kind of quote in his book? Anyway i am not interested in doing such kind of scary things in daily manner as well as don't have enough time for this.

It is great to take the time to think about the things that scare you, because then you will have the chance to see the things that you can do which would help you to overcome this fear. I am also scared of learning how to drive. I am already learning a little bit, but I know that being on the road is something that scares me because I don't trust myself to be in charge of a car without doing anything wrong, and I would never want to hurt other people. But this is a fear that I am going to have to face one day, so it might as well be sooner rather than later.

I avoid things that scare me, my friend. I think i am like that ever since. That's why, i never get to learn how to drive a car because i am scared that i might not be able to drive it well and meet an accident. I am scared of heights , so i don't ride those risky rides. Maybe that's because i am older now.

I think I can relate to this, but I do not abide by it. As much as I think it can be helpful to an individual, if you aren’t in the mindset to scare yourself by doing things outside of your comfort zone, then you won’t do it. I won’t do it. It scares the pee out of me to drive outside of my comfort zone. I can do it only if someone is with me, and we have practiced doing it. I can’t do it on my own. I’ve never been diagnosed, but I think I am agoraphobic in that way. I don’t like crowds and will avoid them, but I can function if I have to. We have a big church, and I can go to a dinner or a banquet if I must, but I would rather not. These are not fun for me; I don’t like eating in front of people, or making polite conversation… it’s just out of my comfort zone, and I would rather not do it. I do think it IS healthy to scare yourself into doing something, and getting used to it. I just haven’t really mastered it yet because it’s not comfortable.
