Please Don't Kill Them

I have heard that when greyhounds are retired from dog racing they are put to sleep. What i don't understand is why this is happening. See when the greyhounds are done with racing they are only 2 yrs old and in good health and they make very good pets. I know when they are retired they don't make money for the person anymore, but when pitbulls are retired from dog fighting they don't put them to sleep. So why do this to greyhounds. I mean when a person retires from a job they dot kill us. Also 2 yr old babies aren't good for much in the way of making mnoey or helping with things and they get to live. So just like people greyhounds are good for something like a pet or a watchdog. So why do people put them to sleep after they retire from racing? I think this is horrible because they still have a life they can live and be great for people with depression for kids to play with as a watch dog for seniors as a companion. I am such a lover of dogs that hearing this really upset me. I would love to hear other peoples thoughts on this.
