Here in Mexico we celebrate halloween on oct. 31st but in a different way than most. Here its called the Day of the dead. And you celebrate the lifes of people who have passed away. You go to church, grave sites, and families homes for dinner. So how do you spend halloween where you live??

When I was still living in my hometown i used to visit the grave yard of my relatives and friends, where i can lighten my candles and say a little prayer but now that i am living here in the city and my husband needs me I just bought some candles for them and asked my parents to light it for me.

For our family we do the traditional American Trick or Treating. The kids love to get dressed up in costumes and go door to door getting candy and seeing what all the other children are dressed as. They like the whole party and festive aspect of it. Alot of my friends are Mexican so I know about Dia de los Muertos. I think that is a wonderful tradition and we should celebrate our ancestors lives and pay respect. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I am from the Philippines and ours is just the Trick or Treat. Children wear their halloween costumes and go around the village to ask for some candies. Malls, hotels, fastfood chains and others do have their own trick or treat party which involves games, magic shows and the like.

hi mariaperalta. here in the philippines, we celebrate halloween by holding parties and having a trick or treat. parties are usually held in clubs and bars while trick or treats are done in malls or in villages. on november 1, we have are 'all saints day'. normally, it is a day of prayer for the saints as the philippines is a predominantly catholic country. november 2 is 'all souls day' which is our version of your dia de los muertos. traditionally, families troop to the cemeteries and churches to offer prayers for their departed ones. however, much has changed. the atmosphere in cemeteries are very festive and there is much eating and drinking. i spent my halloween accompanying my daughter trick or treating in a nearby mall. come november 1, i visited the cemeteries where my loved ones were buried and offered prayers. i went to three cemeteries and it was really a tiring day. on november 2nd, i went to church and had masses offered for the souls of my relatives who have passed away already. in the evening, i said my prayers and lit a candle as well.

In our country we celebrate halloween on the 31st though November 1 in Manila people normally give a visit to the grave of their departed loved ones and we called it here the day for all souls day. Though in our province they normally visited graves on the 2nd which is the all saints day here. But of course its not the days of mourning but its the day of being wih the entire family and relatives remembering the lives of those departed telling how they are while they are still alive. Normally the topic are those who are funny then we also bring foods, flowers or favorite food of that departed person to remember with. its the way of remembering them even if they past away already so those young generations in the family will also have the change to know them and their stories while they are still alive and so they will passed it to the next generations to be remembered.

In the Philippines, we all trek to the cemetery to be with our departed loved ones. We bring flowers and light candles, pray, eat and bond with other family members. Cemeteries at this time are really crowded as everybody is there.
