I am a self confessed bookworm, so as my 11y/o niece. A few days ago, my cousin asked me to pick up my niece from school. Before going home, i decided to go grab some fingerfoods for her. But out of nowhere, she asked me if i've read Fifty shades of Grey because accrdg to her, her classmates are currently reading it. I asked her if she knows what fifty shades is all about, she said "yea, i googled it." me: have you mentioned it to your mom? Cassi: nope. me: she's gonna freak out! C: *rolled her eyes* she even rolled her eyes! My goodness. If the same thing happened to you, What will you say to your niece? Was my reaction okay?idk how to handle that kind of situation, less talk less mistake :D

Hello, Well, It's not really normal that your 11 years old niece is reading fifty shades of grey. It's not really a book for kids. But well, if she's reading it, why she says everyone else about that? It's really weird situation and i would be confused too, so i admit you were acting OK :D. Happy myLotting!

yeah. It isn't normal, she's just in 5th grade. She should read harry potter or twilight, not fifty shades. Seriously, having a direct access to the www is a major No, no for tweens .

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i know what u would have felt after hearing that your niece wanted to know more about Fifty shades of grey. i think your reaction was justified and even i would have had the same reaction as it is obviously not expected from an 11 year old kid. I think it is all because of the effect of modern technology that kids are coming under this influence and they should be properly guided to avoid such things to happen in the future. What say?

Well, at first I would be shocked but the truth is.... that's pretty normal for today's youth. I recently watched a British documentary about p0rn movies and teenagers and honestly.... at 11... such a book might be a little bit better than watching p0rn movies...
