Hi all, I just bought an e-book. I got enough of paper books. They need space and you can't carry to much with yourself. I wanted to have an ebook. Yes, only one small and light machine. And I can get a lot of ebooks for free on it. People say real, paper books worth more, but I believe if you want to read a book you need fantasy not paper.

I actually own a Kindle 4. What is the name of this device you own? I'm not familiar with it. I bought a Kindle because it is convenient. And being a student, I just don't have enough money to buy all the books I want to read. I think my Kindle is a good investment. But when I become financially stable, I would definitely ditch my Kindle for the real paper books.

I posted a picture about it in this topic. It's a DPS 750. Cheap and also can handle many formats. I like it! Why would you throw away Kindle?

I'm sorry. I see it now. Did you get it online? I got mine online for a great deal. Haha. I don't mean throwing it away literally, I just mean I would prefer paper books when I become financially stable.

I didn't order it from the internet. I bought in Media Markt for 19,000 HUF.

hi csabaholcz. i'm not a big fan of e-books. i can definitely see the advantages of owning ebooks as mentioned by those who own e-books and even those who have a kindle. i'm not against it and i've always believed in the adage 'to each his own'. i personally prefer real books over on-line ones. nothing beats the feeling of owning a real book. the feel of turning a page and holding the over one's lap. the scent of a newly opened book can't be recaptured by a digital version of a book. cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I usually get to read the story first on e-book format then buy the print when it's really good saving me money AND space from books that are not good.

I have a small library of real-world books and I also have lots of e-books. But since I don't have electronic editions of my real-world books, it's hard to compare which is better. Right now, I don't have a dedicated e-book reader so it's a bit tedious for me to read e-books on my computer. Anyway, one of these days, I'll get myself a Kindle or an Android Tablet so I can improve my reading experience.

Getting some of both is not bad too. Of course I have real books too. Anyway many times I must read books what the school told me, getting those for a one-time read than throw away books is annoying.

I am sorry, csabaholcz,to have a different choice from yours.I prefer traditional books that are printed on paper.I have a home library of my own that consists of a lot of books and I frequently read them.Of course, each of them is costly, but at least I don't need an uninterrupted power supply to read them.In our home town we have to suffer from frequent power cuts.Lack of time coupled with these power cuts make ebooks useless for me.

Yes,we have to suffer from frequent power cuts and so I can't use ebooks as freely as you. That's why I never try to download them.

Well yes if you have frequent power cuts you didn't made a bad decision. But for me it's easier to use electronic books. Most of my friends carry tablets or mobiles everywhere so an ebook fits in my bag.

I agree with you on that one. Real books have their charm but they're bulky and more expensive then buying an ebook. Also its so much easier to have your ebook on the go then a big clunky old book. I am a big fan of ebooks but sometimes I wonder about the future of public libaries. We already have the internet which provides so much information and now we can order cheap books in an instant. Also with the other advantages of using an ebook such as the size it makes me wonder what will happen to public libaries. Will they eventually become a thing of the past like video stores? Or will they adapt and let you download the information instead? With the popularity of the ebooks and the technological advancements the last few years I wonder if even traditional books will disappear. I don't know why they don't but I really wish that they made college text books into ebooks. Education is expensive enough as it is. I think that would be a wonderful way for students to save money. Sure maybe not every text book would make a good ebook depending on the subject but still maybe would transfer just fine.

Good question what will happen with libraries... Well what happened when we used CDs instead of those old cassettes? I would be happy to use all of my books what I need for school could be downloadable. An Ebook holds for 6 hours long if you want to, so it could work.

Well I am a strong supporter of paper books. I could use my hand to browse it, smell it and mostly I could draw on it. When reading an ebook (I often do it because of the lack of choices), I find it is quite similar with reading a scroll. It kind of a linear reading and non-linear reading is far more enjoyable.
