the perfect storm

As believers are we to agree with those that say hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, and other 'natural' disasters are acts of God? Is it possible that the conspiracy theorists are correct in saying that mankind can produce the hurricane and tornado? If they are correct, then these storms cannot be considered an act of God, but an act of man. By what criteria do we judge which storm may be man-made and which is truly an 'act of God'? Is it possible that by fracking (injecting water and gel like substances into the ground) the oil companies are responsible for the earthquakes? If so, then we must also consider that not all earthquakes can be labeled as an act of God. If we do agree that Sandy the perfect storm hurricane, was indeed caused by an act of God, then what is our responsibility to those affected by that act of God?

Hi Hoseasmate! Welcome to MyLot! I am kind of back and forth on this particular topic. For the most part if man causes any kind of natural disaster I think it's all the drilling and things like that where we disrupt the things God put here. But regardless of how the disaster occurred I do think as humans we should help out those affected by it to the best of our ability.

I think where there were mandatory evacuations and someone did not heed the warning then they should not be rescued. Let manpower and resources be used for other areas that did not have the opportunity to be warned, or were not told to evacuate have the benefit of these services, manpower and resources. Then if there is time and resources later then they can go see about those areas. That's my two-cents-worth! lol

There is already proof of man made weather that is controlled. In China they control the weather over Beijing for when they have important things going on. If you put in Man made controlled weather in a search engine. The results are going to surprise you. As far as what we need to do for those affected by weather disasters, I do what I would want others to do for me. Yep that simple.. It is what God would want us to do. Give of ourself to help all those in need. Doesn't happen though does it? Not like it should. Sad but real. And we deal and survive still.

First of all I must clarify that I am not much of a believer. Natural disasters sounded more like man made disasters as the consequent of what they have been doing all this time, which is destroying our Earth. I understand that believers tend to relate natural disasters that killed many as an act of God to punish those who committed too much sin. Well, either way, we do not have sufficient evidence or fact to prove that right. Perhaps those extinction level event disasters are an act of God or perhaps not.

Yes, I may agree somewhat. How do you suppose that one would tell the difference between an 'act of God' and a man-made disaster? I surely don't suppose that one who 'created' the hurricane, one who seeded the cloud and formed the tornado, or one who fracked the well and caused the earth to split would ever take responsibility for those actions. In our world, those persons would be taken to court and held responsible for the monetary losses. Yes, I also agree about the destruction of the earth. The Bible says that it grows old and will eventually be discarded as one would discard an old garment. I wish others would show more care of the earth and that the pollution would stop....wishful thinking, I'm sure....money is the god that drives those decisions!

Certain questions don't have an answer. And your question is one such. Howmuch ever you might discuss about this, you will not be able to arrive at a conclusion.
