From Hell... Jack the Ripper!

Hello, my dear fellows... 'From Hell'!!! Do these words ring any bell? Most of us, would not recognize it... These words are forgotten now. These words refer to the letters written by 'Jack the Ripper' before more than a hundred years. The notorious serial killer who was never found, officially...
I just watched the movie titled 'From Hell', starring Johny Depp. The picturisation was close to authentic. The white chapel area is shown just as it has been described in the history. Depp plays the role of Inspector Abberline, the one who was officer in charge to investigate the White Chapel murders... I don't need to describe the story, as most of us know it.
The movie shows that it was the Royal Surgeon, who committed these murders. And he does it to save the Royalties and the empires' honor. They say that the Prince led a secret life, with the 'women' in white chapel area and thus acquired syphillis. He also had a child. To cover it up, the surgeon was ordered to kill every witness to the marriage... Is that possible? Our history has many such examples indeed. And yet my mind refrains from believing it. I have read another version which states that a Jew merchant was Jack the Ripper... Gosh, it is all so confusing...
We'll never know the truth, I'm sure... And yet, whats your opinion about it? Please share... I've been a curious student of White Chapell murders.. Your opinion will add something to my knowledge....

I recall seeing that movie a few years ago. I did enjoy the movie and I thought the story was decent. I'm not sure how realistic it was though. I don't know anything about Jack the Ripper that isn't considered common knowledge but crime and the actions of crazy people interest me. I will say though that even if there was some truth to the story as usual they probably used their artistic license and made it fit for Hollywood.

Hi Sindelle... If you too are interested in Crimes & Criminals, then do read about Jack the Ripper... I'm not talking about the fiction work... There are many books with many theories as to who could he have been... He was a Madman, no doubt... A madman with surgical knowledge, and wisdom to keep his identity secret.... He used the 'Liston Knife' for quick amputations... Check the Wikipedia too, there are a lot of details about Jack....

hi friend, if the Ripper was not officially caught or punished in this world, I am sure there is a greater punishment on the other world that he might still be enduring to this day or for all eternity, let's just be content with that thought, there is justice beyond justice that we know in this world.

Hi... Jack the Ripper was never caught and thats why he's still remembered... All other serial killers, who were caught are forgotten... For example, Neill Creame, a Canadian Doctor, who studied and practised in England; who was a follower of the Ripper, killed a few 'working women' in 1891, three years after Jack's deeds, was caught and hanged... He even tried to gain glamour by calling himself the Ripper before a few hours of hanging... And yet, he's forgotten... His method was more gruesome than Jack.. He'd poison his victims with strychnine, a poison which was not very well known in those days... The victims heart and other vital organs' muscles would go straight and tight... The same method was employeed by another doctor named Palmer... Palmer was not a sadistic, he killed for insurance money... He's much remembered as his case had got very controversial. Investigators use its details for reference even today.
The point is, every criminal is punished for his deeds on the earth only... We just don't know how Jack served his due.... That case still interests me and I've never lost a chance to study it more....

I just saw the movie.. i did hear about Jack the Ripper. 
And he is quite interesting since no one really knew who he was, just speculations and stuff, and he wasn't even caught. he has appeared in some movies and tv series too. 
It'd be nice if the made another movie about him.

I loved the movie. I also love Depp. You brought back some memories here. I may go and rent it, I havent seen it in along time. have a great day there.

Hi... Thanks a lot... I'm glad you liked the movie... I've always liked Johny Depp, since the Pirates... Do you know that the story shown in the movie is based on reality? Check this on Wikipedia Miss... Check for Jack the Ripper... It also has a sketch of Detective Inspector Abberline... You'll enjoy the story better, if you know it is real story....
