10 Christmas season have passed that our house didn't have a christmas tree..we know that it's one of the many symbols of Christmas season..and when i was still very young, i could remember myself under our christmas tree (from a bigger to a smaller or simpler one)..my pictures back then with my family and our christmas tree can always make me smile.. and now..i'm so touched with my father..he said that he thinks it's about time that we'll put back our christmas tree again (even buy a new one, and it's buying from the scratch..from the tree to the decors and lights) i think time has healed my father..and i'm so glad to feel it from him..

Fathers are so wise aren't they! I haven't put up a tree for two years. One reason is I now have two rambunctious cats and know they will tear it down as soon as I put it up. Another reason is I seldom get company and don't see a reason to put it up but I do miss it.

It is a pity to let the cats spoil your pleasure, can you not put a small tree out of their reach? If you are on your own a great deal then that's a very good reason for having a christmas tree! It brings life into the room.

I'm so glad that your family is going to have a Christmas tree again because there is something about a Christmas tree that outshines all the other decorations. The odd thing is that it isn't even a Christian symbol, rather a pagan fertility one (because it is evergreen)that has just been adopted. One of the nicest things about Christmas tree decorations is that the same ones come out every year so as the boxes are unpacked and the decorations hung they bring back memories of Christmases years before when the children were young and even made some of the decorations themselves. I know that the ones with balls and ribbons that we see in the shops are very beautiful but it is the home made family ones capture the real spirit of Christmas.

Wow...it's nice to hear that...maybe, your father had a bad experienced in his life that he avoided having Christmas tree in your house for fear of remembering something....but it's nice to know that he has changed and that he is already coping up with the past.

That is cool; a christmas tree does make the hoildays a little more cheerful.. Looking at all the lights and different decorations... I hope you all have lots of fun setting up the tree.. And have a wonderful hoilday season with lots of warm memories that you can cherish forever

If you don't mind me asking, what did happen that the tradition of putting up a Christmas tree stopped for your family? Anyway, Chrsitmas trees are part of my good childhood memories. I remember gazing up on our tree in the living room, all the lights are off except for the tree lights. I would lay down under the tree and imagine that I live there together with the magical Christmas features: the angels, the animals, the fairies, etc. I would gaze up on it for hours until I fall asleep.
