Nit picking

I took my bosses shift today, she didnt even thank me. She came instead to do paperwork (useless of me to work today). While, she was there for a few hours she nit picked everything. I mean I had just finished eating we literally shovel food in and serve customers (we dont get a full alone break). She was very snappy and rude at me for having my dish there. She then kept getting me in trouble for cleaning. Even if you do something for her, she will pick it apart in what you dont do or what could be better. The other girl being the day shift full time got the blunt of everything. She was the girl who was sick on Sunday. She literally couldnt get off the toilet, the manager just rung her out for leaving me by myself (I told her not to come in and I;ll be fine). We had major ordered today 4 in 3 hours (big truck worths), she didnt care why didnt we do anything. Both of us are getting very annoyed, and I told the other girl I am looking for another job at this time, I do like the job together, and the training but not the manager who just makes everyone in a bad mood not a good workplace environemnt and stress I don't need.

There's no need to work somewhere that stresses you out and puts you in a bad mood because of the manager. That's part of the reason why I left my last job. I would get so stressed, the managers were awful, the company was awful, and I was getting paid minimum wage when new hires were getting hired at at least $8 and I had been there for a year. It got to be too much and I just ended up quitting because I didn't need that kind of stress at a part-time job. Try to stick it out for now until you find something else. If it's a chain company you're working for then maybe you can get transferred to another location and hopefully have better luck with the manager. I know how you feel and I hope you can find something that's not so stressful

A hostile working environment can cause a persistent turnover among employees, but often the parent company lets it be. They do not decide to change things up and improve their retention of trained employees. Hope you find something good soon.

All of the empployees are under 6 months. The one lady I believe is 6 months, the girl I usually work with is 3.5 months, I;m 3 months, and the other girl is 1 weeks and already left. Before that they were about the same, or all under a year time.

I've known managers like this. Instead of praising the good bits of a person's work they HAVE to nit-pick at every slightest thing THEY think is wrong in some way, something I've never been able to get my head round, as it's unnecessary and creates low staff morale. One thing I regret in my life is not getting into management..but, there again, if the managers we have now are a result of them all going on courses then I suppose I've had a lucky escape!

One major factor why i like my job is that my boss is a generous, loving and considerate boss, my friend. She would give you instructions and do it yourself without being supervised. If it is not as she wants it to be, she will tell you so and just redo it. A job's pay sometimes is not what makes you stick to your job. It is the nice people you work with and the good boss you have. Yes, you might as well leave that job, because that manager will stress you no end.

I hate people like that. She must have a very unhappy life. Why pick o the person who helps her so much- like you do. Have you tried talking to her about it? I would, as it sounds like you arent happy there. Have a great wed.

I think you have to get help from your office peoples and good friends about this. I hope they will help you

Is this a major chain she's the manger of or a smaller "family" type store... It might be a good idea to report her saying she's alienating customers and, honestly, if she can't keep workers that should be a good indication that she's a problem.

If there were enough workers to protest against it, I'd say go higher then the manager and get her reviewed. Though that may not even help. It's sad that you will most likely not be the last person to quit because of her, you certainly weren't the first.

I do hope you find another job. I worked under stress like that for a year. We had a manager who stressed everyone out. She was a very evil person. I had to take a short term leave of absence and another girl went home crying at the end of every day. So I understand how you feel. Good luck getting another job.
