Colorado and Washington get a chance at better health with legal marijuana.

In a precedent setting election year we have seen the re-election of President Barrak Obama, multiple states electing new equal marriage rights, anti-hatred laws, and two states setting future precedent by fully legalizing and allowing the sell of marijuana to adults over the age of 21 for personal and recreational use. While this is all good and fun, what does it mean for the health of the residents of both states? It is rather simple really. Both states have written into their bills and amendments that industrial and commercial hemp are now both allowed as well. This change alone could improve the health of the economy in these states, offer new eco-friendlier fuel and plastics, improved textiles, but also allot for a new and improved food source. Hemp is one of the most well balanced food plants on the planet. The fiber rich leaves, stems and stalks are also rich in several vitamins and minerals, are easily introduced into the diet and contain virtually no intoxicating chemicals. The seeds of the hemp plant are one of the most complete fat and protein sources that is found on the planet. These little balls of awesomeness for our bodies contain Omega-3 Omega-9 and valuable proteins that are all very easily take by the body. Not to mention that all of the plant offers at least some calcium. While hemp seed made food products are available in a limited amount here already, they are rather expensive due to the controlled substance act having lumped hemp in with marijuana. They simply are not the same plant. Now however, with local agriculture looking for a way to rebuild, there is a new hardy cash crop staring them in the eyes. Through local production, the legalization of hemp will lead to job creation, better quality and less expensive products, and most likely a surge of new locally produced products as well as a new exportable commodity for both states. The health benefits do not stop there. The allowance of recreational marijuana use has a serious positive impact on the health of these two states as well. Adults will now have a far healthier choice in intoxicants than alcohol. Stress relief, improved social function and less alcohol consumption are going to make for a better standard of living for all. Three cheers for those that have fought this long and uphill battle. We are finally there. Thank you all for your time. Don't forget proper grammar and punctuality in your responses. ha! I love you my fellow MyLotters.
