guys dont u think that routine circumsicion of new borns for religious reasons hampers the rights of infants as they can not protest..??? The practising folks supports themselves by considering circumsicion as hygience procedure and claim that it prevents penile infections....but careful studies have proved that even the uncircumsicised people who maintains sound hygiene are equally comparable to the cut-ones...morever ther are many irreversible damages caused due to circumsicion...in evry sense circumsicion has proved a torture and a not-so-needed procedure for infants (unless there are some serious medical conditions like phimosis,etc)....even the doctors are still trying to find out the medical benefits of this procedure...so why not to bann it and promote the normal penile hygience procedures????

I am not a boy but circumcision is a practice here in our country, regardless of religion. I know that there is a particular religious sect that practice this act and have their kids cut after weeks of birth. But here in our country it is different. Kids done their circumcision when they reached puberty age- much likely when they reached 10-14 years old (most ideal) while other have it later on their twenties (but very rare) This circumcision tradition here in our country is more on hygienic reason and men here in our country can attest to that. Anyway, I don't have anything against with those who had their babies cut at early stage- it is their choice. Besides- if it is done properly, it won't harm the baby either.

glad to hear your views...but my point is why to practice such controversial practices in name of hygiene when there are clearly other options available...its not like a mandatory vaccination procedure....its not at all required for the babies or boys....all is needed is the implementation of proper hygience practises and to abolish such customs which are controversial...¿

I don't know about your country. But this circumcision issue was never been a controversy here in our country. This is a common practice here. Maybe this will only create controversy with countries that is not practicing circumcision.

I think that natural is better. Whether it's an infant or a 14 year old, it's still a child to me. He might be physically bigger, but he is not independent from his family, so he has to go along with their traditions. It sounds painful to me and I also have an issue with people performing it under unhygienic/dangerous conditions. I know of some guys who have scars and decreased sensitivity due to their circumcision. Probably if you ban it, there will be an outcry and more unqualified people performing them in their religious communities. It'd be better to raise awareness of potential harms caused by it or evidence in favor of keeping the foreskin.

Our son hasn't undergone circumcision yet. I guess three to four more years and he will have one. I don't agree with the circumcision of infants. They are so pitiful. They are newly born. I can'tafford to see them in pain. I hope they won't circumcize the anymore.

I Think it depends on the culture and how circumcision is practice by some countries. It really varies from country to country and how they perceive circumcision be it in religion, health or cultural purposes. There are some countries who doesn't practice circumcision but in the majority, more countries practice it. However in my country, we don't practice circumcision at a very young age. Parents don't like the idea of having circumcision's for new borns since they have this belief that having wounded an infant will make it scarred when healed. So, the best way of having circumcision is during adolescent mostly 10-13 is the preferred age for circumcision and is done during summer period.

I believe that religious cirumsicion should be banned and it saddens me that the powers that be do not have the guts to act. This is child abuse - no ifs or buts. The child has no say in this matter. A foreskin is there for a reason, and the removel can lead to problems. I have no problem with it being done for a valid reason. Is it not time to stop deforming children because of a belief in an unproven faith

I guess it can not be banned here in our country. Our culture demands that males should be circumcised before reaching adulthood. It's not for religious reasons but it's what is our tradition dictates. Boys have he right to select when they are going to be circumcised. Some parents have their baby boys circumcised right after hey are born but it is not advisable as what I read.
