I read a long time ago that tomatoes contain some form of sugar that will keep you up at night. Such a bummer, cause I love grilled cheese and tomato bisque on cold nights. What you guys think?

Really? I haven't heard of that till now. I think I'll research about it later. I love tomatoes and I love them on my burgers or just eating them plain. But I think it's just okay to eat tomatoes at night still as long as you don't eat a tons of them.

Oh, I love pizza too, I just don't care on what time of the day would I eat it. Hubby's love it as well. I don't really think that tomatoes affects my sleeps whenever I ate at night though. There are loads of time when I have it on my food but nothing really happens like what you have said. thanks for the info anyway.

I read that years ago on some website. It was eerie. I had made a veggie pizza one time with all the trimmings. Pizza sauce, diced cherry tomatoes, green peppers, mushrooms, the works. I like a lot of sauce on my pizza, and the tomatoes with that. I was up ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!!!!!!! Pizza was good, though.

Really? Tomatoes are not as sweet as others. I even add honey, or brown sugar with tomatoes. But I heard that sugar can actually makes us super-active. Like kids, when they eat too much sugars (candies, ice cream, cakes), they usually get super-active. Anyway, eating at night is not good, get build into your fat. I try not to eat later than 9. Some even say, avoid eating after 7. I think tomatoes is ok, as long as we don't eat a lot of it at night. It is considers a healthy fruits.

Very true. I've never heard of putting honey or brown sugar. That's kind of new.

I know that they contain natural sugar so it should dissolve without keeping you up. I would think after a grilled cheese and tomato bisque soup coupled with a warm blanket would make me sleep like a baby.

If that is true then my body is immune to their tasty powers. I also love tomatoes. I eat them all the time. I could eat all the tomatoes in Mr.Megregor's garden and still sleep like a baby. Maybe on a weekend you should try eating them late and see if they keep you from sleeping.

I never heard of that, I only knew it contains lycopene good for the skin. At some point tomatoes are good to me cause I'm awake at night doing my online job. Anyway thanks for the info, that will help me.

Hi, All I know is that tomatoes contains lycopene. What it does has escaped my memory. Now this. I eat them at any hour of the day without side effects, two, three big ones, raw with salad or as a condiment. I should try to experiment with it if your theory is right.

I have no idea except that if I am not mistaken, it is anti-cancer and enhances growth, good for kids and adolescents.

I have had tomatoes many times 1-2 hours before sleep to keep me hydrated for the night. Don't ever recall having trouble sleeping.
