Why no comments on my facebook posts?

I try to post a positive comment on all the friends who post something on facebook. I don't always post my comment immediately. I may post a few days later because I don't spend a great deal of time on line. I don't post three or four times a day, but usually only one or two times a month. I do log on to read postings at least once a day or every other day. However, no one ever responds to my posts. Of course, I do get one to two 'likes', but I don't think I consider that much of a dialogue. Is there some posting etiquette that I could be violating? Any suggestions for how to get responses to my posts?

Well, I think that if you are not getting responses from your posts it is because they lack the "appeal" to be able for people to respond to or your post might be vague that they really do not understand what you want to relay.

oh...well, i guess that i'll keep trying to write things that others want to talk about...don't suppose that you would have any suggestions? i don't have young children for posting current pictures for comment; my cat is really not that interesting or photogenic; i really would like some ideas about what to write.

You can write anything that you want, but also you should consider how you would want people to react to your post. Usually, members would be telling about their everyday experiences which a lot of people might be able to relate to. I can only suggest that you start a discussion if you are inspired to write something and not be pushing yourself just to be able to post a discussion. The passion of writing should always be present.

You know what? you should not worry about that because it is really normal that you are not receiving any post or comment from them when you are posting. It happens to me all the time that I am just receiving the likes but not the post or comment itself. You didn't violate any rules unless you have indicated foul languages or any defamatory remarks that may offend other people. Don't give a deal about that because it only happens that there were many people who aren't that interested to post a comment and you should be considerate because at times there are really busy to their work most of the time.
