Blogging a Story or an Essay ...

I have a blog and I've been struggling with a decision as to which form of writing is better in terms of production and profitability. For me, the essay is quite boring and often, very difficult to write. On the other hand, a story (esp. if fictionalized) is quite interesting and far easier to write. Although I'm leaning towards the story, I'm a bit apprehensive that writing a story will cause me to take detour away from my target keywords. On the other hand, staying with essays will surely mean a much slower rate of production. Which piece of writing do you think is worth more when published in a blog?
