I recently watched a Bloomberg documentary on J.K. Rowling's rise to fame. It was interesting to note that she spent all her life writing stories. Then one day, she was on a train and had a eureka moment about a story of a school teaching magic. After that, Harry Potter was born and the rest was history. It's good to catch a glimpse of the lives of writers so aspiring writers can somehow follow their path to success. I know it's presumptuous to say that I would be like J.K. Rowling one day, but I think I can do the same things she did. Maybe, this will help me get my writing/publishing career moving forward in the right direction. Which successful writer inspired you lately?

I don't think so. It's a very long documentary. But apparently, it's available at the Bloomberg.com site. I didn't know that. Anyway, you're in luck. Here's the link: http://www.bloomberg.com/video/bloomberg-game-changers-j-k-rowling-harry-potter-Pw12ULBXT6y5qmlOyjKUHg.html.

I really respect J.K. Rowling, she worked really hard to get her books written and working a regular job at the same time. I have a great imagination and can write and she makes me want to write, but once I get started on a story, my mind gets bored and it wanders and anything I've written gets put away in the back of my files. Maybe one day one of my kids will find them and have a hidden writing talent and finish up some of the books I've started.

We're the same here. I admire J.K Rowling about how she came about the story of Harry Potter, which is a genius. She thought about an idea, and anyone can think that, but is was her who put up the contents and thought about how to make the story so interesting.

I am not really into writers although of course I admire how they execute their imagination to the stories. Maybe Jose Rizal could be my inspiration on his writings that became a legacy. He wasn't become rich for that hence he was killed because of that but then the reality until now still strikes. Just an example of how he revealed the other side of the priest that they are womanizing. Until now it just still happened that they are even fathered the teenagers.

Great post. J.K. Rowlings certainly is an inspiration for all of us who want to "make it" as a writer. I think it's great that you hope to follow in her footsteps and become successful yourself. Let us know if you do!

Thanks a ton sharing this discussion. Well yes u are absolutely right, it is so much inspiring to read the documentaries of famous and talented writers who have rose to fame and name by going through several hardships. I have also heard about the same thing of JK Rowling of how she got this character accidentally and see how we are enjoyng her creation. I am sure there would be many such stories around the world that we are not aware of and i hope we get to see so many characters in the future who are made accidentally. He he he. What say?
