My boyfriend just moved to Canberra today for his new job starts tomorrow. He ask me what is my expectations living in Canberra and I have no idea really. I will be moving there too next month hopefully to be with him and give birth to our first child on mid of May. He really wanted to have a farm house since he grew up in a city he don't like life in the city. I've been to Sydney and I like the life there. Since I grew up in a farm until I am about 16 and moved in the city for my college, I still wanted to live in the city because for me it has more life in the city than in the country side. But he wanted a to be on a country side more quite and peaceful and he likes the idea of having farm animals. I don't want to spoil his wants and dreams to have a farm house so I agree with him. As long as I am with him wherever we are I guess I will be happy :))

Welcome to MyLot Congratulations & best wishes Canberra is a long way inland, so if you wanted to go to the beach, it would be maybe a day-trip? It gets very, very cold there... coastal cities are warmer, even in winter. Sydney is quite a trip from Canberra too. Hope you enjoy your stay here!

Thank you veganbliss!. ohh yeah it's almost a day-trip when we wanted to go to the beach. But we can go to Brisbane and stay there in weekend they owned a beach house in there. During winter it can be too cold and it can be too hot during summer too? with firestorm sometimes? I will enjoy my stay as long as I am with him. Thank you!

I think you'll find Brissy a little warmer during the winter, just dry (no humidity that time of year). They have a lower temperature during the summer months (their wet season), but it feels hotter due to the extra humidity in the summer, which you won't get in Canberra. I'm not aware of firestorms in the Brisbane area. The only real bad firestorms were in Victoria recently, with a chance the same could be in or near Canberra. It sounds like you have "the best of both worlds"!

Last time my boyfriend is in Brissy and it's too hot around 50 degrees...awww hotter than in PH. Come what may!. but we might stay long in Canberra since he is working there. Last time I've been in Sydney it's winter so didn't enjoy much of the outdoors hopefully this time more outdoors to enjoy. New place and new weather this time. Thanks you! Have a great Monday and week ahead!

Thanks a ton sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your situation and i think u should fulfill your boyfriend's dreams of having a farm house. U know something! Its always great to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city and this u can achieve by staying in a farm house where u can feel the nature very closely and can get more closer to the animals also. u can do whatever u want in the farm house and also help your boyfriend to do many activities over there. What say?

Hi subhojit10, Thanks that u understand my situation. And yes I agree with you it's always great to stay away form the massive and noisy city. But I am sure we can stay in the city sometimes too. Most important is I can be with him. We can have a quiet and peaceful life close to nature and have a huge backyard for my baby. Huge enough to play around unlike in the city He is planning to have a horse too that's why :))
