How secure wifi is?

I have heard that wifi passwords can be hacked! Is it really possible.Some are claming that they hacked the wep and wpa passwords of some wifi.If it is true then how can we rely on wifi as public can see our private informations like- sites viewed and email passwords etc.?

It is true that the wifi connection is not that secure. In fact nothing can be completely safe. Even if the online banking can be hacked. Even though, I still take advantage of the free public wifi connection if I go out. I don't pay by my tablet and cellphone. I just want to surf the net, check my emails or sign in some chatting software and that's all. I am not so afraid of being hacked. After all, this possibility is still low.

hi, i don't know if that is true because i can not check if who are those connected to my WiFi,but i still put password on my WiFi internet just to make it sure that it will never use by my neighbor or other people in the compound where i live.
