Reality TV is Ruining Our Country!

I cannot tell you how sick I am of reality tv. From the Kardashians to the rednecks from various shows, it's all bad. I remember when a television show had to be smart, funny, interesting, and dynamic to be on the air. Nowadays, they just point the camera at any old guy on the street and they think they have a good show. Just because it's "real" doesn't mean it's good or interesting. Also, I think a lot of these shows are scripted or otherwise fake so, why don't they return to actually writing and producing shows with a story and some good characters. Do you love or hate reality television and why?

Not all reality tv is bad. For instance, shows like The Voice are excellent in that they help people with talent get started in a music career. Shows like America's Got Talent also showcase and help talented people get a break although I don't always like how they choose not so good performers just for the laughs while they let some good talent go. But mostly they are good, talented performances. Cooking shows are reality shows also as are many other types that may be educational. However I do agree that there are far too many of the mindless types of reality shows on tv and not enough of the good quality programs that used to be on. I think that is why cable tv and online places like Netflix and Hulu are online because people can still watch the good classics.

Oh and I also do not agree that reality tv is ruining our country. I think other things are ruining our country and reality tv is a symptom of that.

i typically don't watch it just because i don't find it very interesting. really, the only reality tv i watch is having to do with antiques. i enjoy watching storage wars, and the pickers (both Canadian and American) but that is about it. hubby and our daughter like Mythbusters (if you can call that a reality show or not) but that is about the extent of my tv watching. i would much rather read.

I like watching a few of them like Survivor and The Amazing Race, but there are just too many and some are ridiculous.

picaholic I think the problem is the reality TV selection has exploded in numbers..they keep trying to figure out what will be popular and keep coming up with far out ideas. I have been tempted to watch many of them and I totally enjoyed Amazing Race...Teen Mom, Breaking Amish, Sister Wives...and some others. I don't always follow them but a few I have DVR'd and watch regularly...

I am not in favor for having this kind of TV program. It violates the rights of every individuals. In my opinion, it is not humane to o such a program.
