Will it work?

Some friends suggest me to avoid rice to loose weight, and they eat oatmeal instead. What they eat are just the same, they just change the rice into oatmeal. So, for example they usually eat rice and fried chicken, now they eat oatmeal and fried chicken; they usually eat rice with vegetables or soups, now they eat oatmeal with vegetables or soups. Will it work? I mean, okay they avoid the carbs, but what about the fried things like fried chicken, etc? Should we avoid them too?

It will definitely work. Oatmeal contains fiber, need to be digested more than rice. The more effort your body needs to digest, the more calories got burn. Your body is just like an engine. The harder the engine work, it requires more energy. Rice is just sugar. In addition, fiber makes you full quicker and longer, that's why you will not eat a lot. But eating oatmeal all the time may not taste good if combine with other food. So if you still want to eat rice, try brown rice. It also contains fiber, and more work for your body to digest. Same effect as oatmeal. But your friend eating with fried chicken is not good. The oatmeal positive effect has been reversed by the oily fried chicken. Anything deep fried has to be avoided. Try to steam, bake or grill.

Some people did suggest me to eat brown rice, but for me, I prefer the oatmeal because it is simple to make. With the brown rice, I have to cook it, and not all people in the house want to eat that, so it will be such a waste if I have to throw the rice away. That's why I choose the oatmeal, it's easy to make, and I can make it depends on my necessity :) So, I have to avoid the deep fried food? I'll try that one.. wish me luck ;)

If oatmeal doesn't fit, or brown rice takes long time to cook, you can try wheat pasta. Pasta goes with almost everything. I know the whole wheat pasta is also expensive. You can change around, using beans, instead of rice/pasta. Beans contain fiber, protein. A lot of cans for bean, different kinds of bean. You just have to heat it up, and they are not expensive. Happy experimenting!

Yeah it really works. Try and see it for yourself!. Did they really eat oatmeal with fried chicken?. I always advise my boyfriend to just eat oatmeal and banana every morning. Oatmeal is easy to digest than whole grain rice. The faster the metabolism you have the faster you loose weight. Avoid sweets, sodas, fried foods and cheesed. More on fruits and veggies.

@hlfbldmom: yap! one of my friend eat oatmeal with fried foods. She said it is because she hate the taste of the oatmeal itself, so she uses her favorite food to distract the taste of the oatmeal. lol. @rosuesoleic: I love sweets too!! hahaha.. this is my first week on trying to consume oatmeal instead of rice, but I still eat chocolate and ice cream. So, I'm not sure if I can loose any weight. lol.

When I gave up rice and kept everything else I lost ten pounds. I also do this when ever I gain a few pounds because I love rice. I I have noticed that since I started to eat jasmine rice I have not gained any weight.
