Texting on you cell phone while on a date?

I'm seeing this more and more every time I go out. I see two people on a date, and one or both of them are texting away on their phone. It's the worst when I see it at a restaurant. Has conversation really become that difficult. I think that at the beginning of the date, both people need to have a mutual understanding about not texting on the date. What do you think? Am I being over-dramatic about it or do you agree that a date should be text-free?

I have never done this before, I mean texting while Im on a date and not ignoring the person Im with? that's a sign of disrespect and i certainly dont do that, much as I dont want this to happen to me.

I agree on that one, being out on a date, or even with friends and family should be text free especially if it's something that can wait for later. The reason why we go on dates or be out with friends on a restaurant for example is more than just getting a bite, it is also so we can spend time together. It defeats that very purpose if we were to waste some time texting some other people. Might as well not go on a date if that is how it's going to be for the duration of the date.
