Guys, I would like to ask you on what does daylight savings time or dst means? I mean, I am not familiar with it since I am from Asia and that we don't actually apply it. I am just wondering because our colleagues in our company who handles billing in freight companies already report to work 1 hour later from their original working hours...they said that their time zone is already +13 hours and not +12 anymore...could someone explain this please...

All I know is that it has to do with more coinsiding hours when it gets darker in the winter and so forth. Here is a link that will help to explain it to you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time

Oh, thanks for the info...I am actually irritated by this set up here in our company because our project is not affected by this dst...but the transportation sector is not operating in the very early of the morning since people are already coming to work at 6am and not 5am anymore.

Daylight Saving is the practice of turmnning the clock ahead as warmer weather appraoches and back as it becomes colder again so that people will have one more hour of daylight in the afternoon and evening during the warmer season of the year. Daylight saviong will vary somewhat from country to country. Countries in equitorial and tropical regions do not observe these things. The months when the clock is set ahead and back differ between northern and southern hemisphere.

Daylight saving time was implemented in the Philippine during the time of the dictatorship and the explanation then was to save on fuel, I was a young student then and can't really remember how it benefited us or the country, what i can remember is it was so difficult for us cause you wake up a 5 o'clock ( so cold especially during months like now) and the clock would read as 6 a.m. already, time was adjusted to advance one hour.
