are you a role model in your community?

I am sad to say that I don't think I am a good role model in the community since I have my own weaknesses and I can't be like some people who are so upright in their ways of living. I am not saying that I am a crook but I have my own way too like I am not so big on going to church like what our role models do regularly, but I do my own secret prayer and I believe. This is just one of the reasons why I can say that I am not really a good role model in our community. Are you?

No, i'm not a role model in our community but most of the young people around me admire me for my skills and attitude. They always tell me they want to be like me when they grow up. I don't really look up to those role models in my community because I end up getting disappointed because most of them appear to be good only in front of people, but they're really not being themselves. They're too conscious of what others would think of them they tend to lose their own real personality. They are judged easily too. I'm happy just being me even though i'm not a role model.

I like to think that I am a role model, because I always do everything that I can to ensure that people feel as though they can look up to me when they are in need. A lot of the younger people know who I am, and I think that this is a good thing because it means that they are doing things because they think it is what I would want them to do. My younger brother certainly looks up to me, and I am happy that I am doing everything that I can to mean that his behaviour is positive in the future because of the lessons that I have taught him.

I never consider myself a role model but I do participate in many social activities concerning our people/community/church and the country. Doing something is not about praises and recognition- it is happiness without responsibility and not being forced to commit any duty. It is our freewill to help- because helping others and doing good things is a privilege.

Hey Jaiho. Yes, when one does something it should be out of love and sincerity to serve others.

Hi cutie I have always been a backbencher. I have never wanted to be famous, known and hence the role model thing, I am much distant from it. I could have become a successful one as there were many things which I was into and my friends had a great support for me but I never opted to come to the lights. And today, I am all ill, confined at home, and even not with a regular employement as I have towork from home. Hence I am not a role model anytime as today, the interaction with the community is quite limited.

Well, like many of us here, we don't claim to be role models but we just want to live our lives the best we can.

I don't think going to church can be a standard of role model, everybody has his own belief,we can't say who's belief is strong and who's belief is weak.Going to church is just a form.

In our place, people respect and look up to people who are regularly going to church. They are the role models in the community, they say.

Hello :D. Role models are either lying to others or to themselves. There isn't such a thing as a better person than others, and admiration is often based in luck, misinformation or both. Most role models are based on charity or heroism, but charity is just a way of avoiding taxes, and while looking at someone that gives thousands of dollars to charity might sound impressive, the truth is that if you take into account the benefits they get for it and the total of money they make, its actually just business. Not that its bad, its just not worthy of praise either. Heroics are usually just a kind way of speaking about stupidity, but even when they aren't it's mostly people just reacting to an event in an unusual way, kinda like kicking instead of punching when a ball comes around and getting called a soccer/football player :P. All in all, role models are not that good of a person, with a good public relation's agent, anyone could become the next Ghandi.

Hi Flamez. You have opened up my eyes to a new way of looking at role modelling. Thanks for the response.
