Wirelesss Software update on my playbook! lose apps?

Hi i want to update my playbook software to 2.1, through wi-fi, but i dont know whether the tab gets formatted, as i have over 190 apps, and dont want to lose them. if they do get deleted, how do i save a backup of all these apps and media???
