Dear friends and fellow myLot members, I need some help with getting organized. Truthfully, I used to be a lot better at being organized. Well, I do not know exactly how or when but things have gotten into a pretty big mess. Now it just seems overwhelming. While, I am embracing positive change in my life to get things organized and purge my home of the clutter. With this commitment to change, I could use some organizational tips. I want to get both my home and life back organized. There is plenty to be done. I need to organize every room of this one bedroom apartment. This could be a good thing as I am hoping to move in the next 6 months, so there will be less to pack when I do decide to move. Then, there comes the organizing of papers, paperwork, files, computer files, and emails. In a nutshell, I am looking for every nugget of organization wisdom. What has worked for you over the years. How do you keep on top of everything without getting overwhelmed. How do you ensure that you never waste a moment of time looking for something that you missed placed.

Hi aireanna I must admit that I have been the worst organizer all my life - specially when it comes to personal me, but still I do keep trying to get organized every now and then To start with, I can suggest you to make a list of items that you would be frequently using during the next 6 months and keep them accessible. rest all can be packed. When you pack, do write a serial number and the content on the container. The Number would help you know how many boxes you have at end, and also, the content name would help you know what is in what pack. [I learned this trick as we had been changing our residence 5 times during the past 6 years] Once done, take a paper and write down the packs serially. And that should help you when you relocate.

Wow, that is a great tip! Do you generally create serial numbers based upon the location of the item or how do you just do a 1, 2, 3, type system. I am thinking to if I make a list of the items that I put away with serial numbers and location that would make quick and easy to locate the items that I have put away. Thank you for the great advice! I wish you luck in becoming more organized too!

Ah it is simple 1,2,3 a running serial number. You know I am too lazy to generate some codes. And dont be surprised if you find some packs which will not get opened up when you arrive at the new place. We have two such packs which have never been opened in the past 3 years. And I have been trying to persuade my wife to have them disposed off... but she thinks she would use them sometime in the future.. I and she says, I am not carrying those packs so I should not be bothered. They are just occupying some space and that is all they need for the moment.
