One of the food I take often is White Rice. I am willing to learn other ways of cooking white rice that just adding salt to parboiled rice. When I go to restaurant or some parties, I find out that their white rice taste better, what can I do?

I don`t just boil the rice. I first fry it with a small amount of oil and a clove of crushed garlic and the salt. Then I boil it. I like my rice and many people have told me they like it.

I'd bet on it that those restaurants are just using the more expensive types of rice that's why they taste more delicious.

I am a Chinese, so rice is our main food everyday. It is not so difficult to cook the rice. All you need is a nice rice cooker and you can try to make different kinds of rice. It is quite convenient. If you like eating the rice so much, you shall have the rice cooker.

hello olorunleke. and welcome to mylot. being in asia, rice is the primary food in meals. so that would mean i'm supposed to know a lot of things about rice, right? umm.. no. but what i do know is that there are hundreds of varieties of rice. so when you say some rice tastes better, maybe because it has a better quality. so next time you buy some, ask what breed was the rice grain and maybe your grocer could give you advice regarding these.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Even i like to eat white rice and love to eat if it is cooked in different ways just as in parties or in restaurants. Generally in restaurants, many professional cooks are present and they already have this experience of adding zing to any food item and that is the reason why we like them the most while having. i think u can browse through the internet and get many ideas of different tastes of white rice. What say?
