death of a friend

i have seen how a man dies and could feel how his body writhes (in pain maybe).it happened this way. i have a friend who lives alone a few meters away from where i live. it was almost 8:00 PM that night, i heard a call for help, so i ran and checked on him he was standing and gasping for breath. right running after me was also another friend who happened to pass by that time, i told him to call for help, the place where we live is far from any other neighbor, so my friend ran as fast as he could to the nearest place to ask for help.i was left with my friend who was having difficulty breathing that time, then suddenly i have noticed he is beating his chest, and then slowly loosing his footing, so i immediately grab him below his chest his back right beside me. i could suddenly feel his body stiffened and mouth foaming, then moments later became limp, i was talking to him telling him to hold on because help is on the way, i assure him. i continued talking to him until i realized i was just talking to myself because he could already be dead, but i was still holding him, i never laid him on the ground where we were standing. he is getting heavier as i am getting tired, then came other friends who brought him to a doctor, and he was pronounced dead on arrival. i don't know CPR, and i have this guilt feelings that i was not able to give any first aid. well sometimes i told myself that he was a lonely man, at least he died and took his last breath while somebody is talking to him and holding him and it is not a lonely death for him, it's just like in war movies when somebody gets hit and somebody talks to to him till he dies. can anyone tell me how to get rid or at least lessen this guilt feelings that i have? or do i have to live with it the rest of my life? it also developed a certain fear of death in me, of course most of us are afraid of death, but every time i remember how a man dies and could feel how his body writhes and how he breaths his last, it brings a certain chill in me.

Whoa.. such an experience. You were traumatize by the experience. See or consult any psychologist to help you get over with this. They are professionals and you seek an advice from them. There is nothing to be guilty about because if it is his time it is his time. You ran as soon as you heard him scream that's one thing a good person could have done. So just seek for a professional so that you will feel better. Am sure he knew that you did the best you can do.

That's so sad. Did he have a heart attack? How old was he? Poor man.
