Firstly my name is Mounis Swaleh. My name as well as my surname both are so unusual. Every time I get special attention cuz of it ;) But I hate it when people pronounce it wrong & it happens with me every day. It generally does not bother me when someone ask it again and again but everyday ahh can't you learn to pronounce my name. Good thing is at least my surname & name are not funny & yah its uncommon too. :D I want to know is there anyone else who has some unusual name/surname & what are your views on it?

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand how it feels when people spell your name incorrectly and it feels as if u have landed a wrong name in your life. It also happens with me every time but i have learned to be used to it. I do not understand if people are unable to spell others names then at least they should make an effort to spell it correctly or ask that person to spell himself. I think there is no issue with your name. Your name is very unique and sounds stylish. What say?

I don't have an unusual name and surname in fact my first name is so common. I just remember a classmate of mine when I was in high school. I used to bully her because of the funny name of her mother. I admit I was a very bully person when I was in high school. It came to a point where she really cried and I felt guilty. I think having a funny name should not be a source of entertainment. Philip Philips is a weird name for me but look at him now, he is so famous because of his music.

My surname is not that weird-sounding in my country, but not a really common one. It gets misheard and mispronounced a lot, which I hate :).

Hi friend, i don't think my name is an unusual one, because i know some persons with the same name. Sad to hear about your issues, surely we will get anger if some one pronounce our name in a wrong way. You just tell your name once to others, whereas they will pronounce it in a good ways

In my place, there are some traditional families who stick to the customary tradition and with such norms; they named their children in an old-fashioned way wherein the names are based on ancient ancestry. It’s quite odd since their names didn’t match some names in the present era. However, If I am named such I won’t have any problems with it but just stick to it since that’s what they named me.
