Burried in a myLot Avalanche!

Well, I took a couple days off pretty much from myLot with needing to focus on other priorities. Now, I return trying to catch up on all that has happened in two days. My inbox is overflowing with 62 emails just from myLot. As I am trying to work my way throw the mountain of emails, I feel like I am burried under an avalanche of myLot notifications. What are your strategies that you utilize for getting caught up with all your emails? Do you ever feel like there are so many that you make up your own silly little analogies just to joke about how behind you feel you are on things? If so, please share you silly and fun analogies.

I have kept 'notify off' for most of my 'friends' and I rely on the discussions menu that one finds on the home page. The drop down menu has all what one needs to know.

Thank you for the suggestion. I may consider that option. I do really like the notifications for comments and responses. Perhaps, you are right if I got fewer notices of discussions that friends started that may help me. Maybe, I will try to narrow it down to a few friends that I really like getting notifications of when they start discussions. Like mysDi always has really good discussions that I enjoy participating in the discussion. Maybe turn off some of the others.

One can do just so much in a day and the home page has more than what one can do just so much in a day.

allknowing, that is true that there is more to do here on myLot than any of us can do in one day. We must set goals for ourselves based upon the amount of time that we have for spending on myLot.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes it is very annoying to find so many mails in your inbox when u are away from the work for some reasons. Even i was on a trip and was not able to come on this site for 10 days and i saw that i got around 200 notifications from mylot and it took nearly 10-15 minutes to get rid of them. i think there is an option of either getting or not getting the notifications from Mylot which u may turn off. That would be better for u. What say?

I love getting my myLot notifications, so truthfully I do not want to turn them off. It is just amazing though how quicknow I have my work ly all those emails stack up. I have been trying to stay on top of emails, but the past two days I did not have time to purge through them so now I have my work cut out for me. I did use to feel the way that you mentioned when I was on Inbox Dollars and Send Earnings. Those two sites would just clutter up my inbox so much, and if I did not have time to read them it would get out of control. There were times that I would open my inbox to find around 500 - 1,000 emails because I had not had a chance to check it in days. Right now, the inbox has about 120 emails. Previously, i was been able to keep it below 25. So, it will again take me devoting some time to getting through all these emails. I got a small stack done last night. It feels like I barely made a dent in it.

Yes, maria I have quite a few from you. Now, I am just trying to work through them all. I love knowing when you have started a new discussion. It feels like the emails have just started snowballing on top of each other. Well, seeing as the chances of it snowing in Phoenix are pretty rare I figured I would use all my snow metaphors on my emails.

I've always felt buried in emails, I remember when I first started using a computer years ago and was disappointed if I had no emails. Now I have so many, yes, feels like I have been buried in an avalanche of mail!

mzz, thank you for sharing! I am glad that I am not the only one that feels this way. THe snow analogy seems so funny to me especially when it is sunny weather in the mid 70s here. The chances of it snowing here in Phoenix are about the same as spotting reindeer on Christmas eve. Yet, somehow this analogy popped into my head the other night and I just had to share it. How is the weather in your part of the globe? Will you see snow this year?

mzz, do you remember the cute you've got mail that aol started years ago? Well, I think that was about the time we all would love to check our inbox's to see if we had email. It seemed so cute way back then. I agree you would feel sad to see that you had no new emails. In today's modern world the emails come flying zipping into our email boxes faster than we can process them. It is like each one snow balls on top of us until we are covered in the avalanche of emails. I think that we can all agree that the only thing that breeds faster than rabbits is our emails.

Hi aireanna18, first of all I think you had those many notifications because you're quite well liked here in mylot. Secondly, there is actually an option wherein you could minimize the email that you received from mylot. I think you just go to your profile and in the edit profit and look at it from there. Thirdly, I believe after doing this you will feel less left behind because you will receive only the types of emails that you would like to receive. I actually receive tons of emails from mylot before and I simply did what I just advice you to do and now there are much less message I get from mylot which I think are those that tells me I have a new referral in mylot and when one of my post or participation has been removed due to breaking some rules written in the FAQ. Hope this helps.

BetterDays4Me, thank you for the advice. I like the notifications. I am just behind. I wish I had more time this week for myLot. Well, I guess I will spend part of the weekend catching up on myLot notifications. I actually find it easier some times to work from my inbox. Then, I do not have to search for discussions and if there is a discussion that I want to participate in I can just keep that notification until I get a chance to participate in that discussion.

Just now I got a time to check online and my personalize email for myLot alone have a pending 879 notification from myLot. How to cope up with the volume of notification. I don't have time now to reply even to read one.

julyteen, that is a lot of emails. You may want to consider turning off a few notifications if you are feeling like the volume is overwhelming as someone above had suggested. Hope you get a chance to look through at least a few emails.

If I don't have any work for the whole day, or even I have but still manage to go online everyday, I can response all emails that I got every now and then.

Hi aireanna! I get more than 200 emails from mylot in a day so if I did not log in for several days well, I really have a lot of catching up to do. Especially, if I left the site with a started discussion. I will really spend my day in reading all the responses and comments. So I really have to come to the site everyday if possible. Although there are really times which we cannot just do it because of some equally important things that we have to attend to. Well, since myLot is my favorite site, I am very happy to be receiving those notifications. So good luck and happy myLotting!

Aries, I agree with you that I love myLot. I very much like getting the myLot notifications. Generally, I participate on myLot every day. Sometimes there are days that I just do not get the time as you said especially when there are a lot of other priorities that I have to attend to in life. If I could choose what I want to do, I would spend most of my time here on myLot.

I have felt the same way. I like having a lot of mylot notifications. It actually saves me a lot of time from searching through mylot to find a discussion I like or can relate too. Right now I have five pages full of mylot notifications. So I will have something to do on mylot every night. It also helps me when I can't think of any topics to start a discussion.

Dominque, I totally agree with you that the notifications save me so much time because I do not have to search or check various tabs to see what type of discussions there are under my individual interests. You are correct that the notifications can be so helpful to save time and maximize our time for participating in discussions. Happy myLotting!

Yeah the notifications help me a great deal. Right now I have a few pages full of mylot notification. That will hopefully keep me busy so that I will be able to cash out for next month. Sometimes I take a break and do other things and I realize how fast the days have went by.

Hi maria, Well, I had a job interview on Tu. esday. That meant that I only participated a little bit on Monday because I was working on prep for the interview. Then, I was headed to be late. Well, the kitty had an accident on the bed like Tuesday early morning about the time I was headed to bed. I'll tell you I think having pets is like having children. So, I had to clean that meslook s up. I am still not finished doing the kitty's laundry from his little accident. Got a few hours of sleep; then I got up and started getting ready for the interview. Interview went fai. I courly well. Stopped to look at an apartment complex on the way home. I could not believe how long that simple errand took. I was there for like an hour. Got home late in the evening. Caught up on some work online with AyuWage. I was to tired to participate on myLoI neet. Wednesday, I slept; then I need to write a follow up letter that turned into a long writing project as I just kept overthinking it. I tried going to bed early Wednesday night as I needed to get up early Thursday morning. Well, that did not happen. I could not sleep so I searched the internet in bed till I was finally able to fall asleep, and of course I overslept the next day. Yesterday, I was catching up on my to do list, and started to work on my pile of emails from the past few days. Wow, I cannot imagine getting 500 emails a day. How do you manage to keep up with all of that my dear?

You know, I don't know what exactly to share because I haven't reached your levels. I'm just jealous you got tons of emails and it possibly means that myLot is really digging you guys. Not just that, it means that you're earning a LOT from the site. I bet their are other jobs you're into, though. Well, I'm looking forward to be like you guys. hahaha

akosibinot, you will get there too! As you add friends on myLot then you can get notifications of when they start new discussions. I do also have some email notifications that I have comments on my responses and that I have gotten responses to discussions that I have started here on myLot. It just all adds up. The more you participate the more you will get notifications of people commenting and responding to you. As the number of friends that you have increases you will also get more notifications of discussions that your friends have started. Welcome to myLot!
